BSOD playing music from network drive using iTunes

I have had a BSOD lately that I cannot seem to figure out. It mostly happens when I play MP3 files using iTunes. They are stored on my network drive, and my other computers do not have this problem. Here is my system information:

Dell XPS 8100
i5 - 3.20 GHz processor
ATI Radeon 5xxx series video card
8 GB RAM
Corsair 120 GB SSD
USB 3.0 PCI card (2 ports)
External Iomega 2 TB drive (USB 3.0)

Thanks!

Phil

The crashdumps don't really show much pattern but there are some appearance of memory failure. First, however, I recommend turning on Driver Verifier. Do not select the following checks: Force Pending I/O Requests, IRP Logging, and Low Resource Sim. Select all other checks. Make sure to restart system after you finish setup. If you experience a boot loop afterwards, go into Safe Mode by pressing F8 prior to Windows logo and disable DV there. Provide us any new crashdumps.

Once that's taken care of, you can also go ahead and run Memtest86+ for at least 7 passes on your RAM.

so far so good

I ran the drive verifier as outlined and included 4 BSODs. I ran Memtest+ 8 times and found no errors. Thanks again for all your time! Phil

Very curious, 3 out of the 4 crashdumps are completely empty!

The one crash that did show up had the driver diginet.sys performing what appears to be a buffer overrun and some stack-trashing. I can't analyze it further on a minidump but it does look like this is responsible given it was dealing with network code, which that driver is responsible for.

Diginet.sys is a driver for Pro Tools in order to operate ethernet control surfaces. I'm not sure if Pro Tools can work without it, but one thing I am sure, and that it's old, as in 2009 old. Given that I've been seeing other reports on Pro Tools forums of this driver crashing stuff, I wouldn't doubt that it's responsible for your situation. Get rid of it, or find an update, or contact Avid technical support about it. But it should be taken care of.

No prob, mate. If you can confirm that everything is in working order after dealing with that driver, don't hesitate to mark this thread as solved for future reference for everyone. Thanks!
