Yes I did disable that driver. Maybe that stopped the BSOD. I just get the popup from the tool bar "USB not recognized". I only have to move my screen/lid a little, and it will trigger that.
Those other files were all up to date and I already had the update mentioned in the article.

Any thoughts on the mere movement of the laptop lid generating the USB message?

Thank you for all the help by the way.

The last thing that I can think of is to try this
Tips for solving problems with USB devices
If that does not work, turn off the computer and then unplug it, if desktop or remove battery if laptop, for about a minute and then boot. The problem should be gone.

That actually seemed to slow the occurrences for a bit. At least I haven't had BSOD in over a week now. I thank you for all you have done to help. I guess I can live with that popup from the toolbar whenever I adjust my screen tilt. This is a Sony Vaio laptop, just to remind you.

I hate to nag you, but the question is nagging me. Why does moving my laptop lid, ie; changing the tilt angle, or closing it generate this USB error message? (sorry to be so bold) :)

I have to guess at the one, but my guess would be is that closing the lid activates, sleep or hibernate or whatever.

I have it set to do nothing when I close the lid. Maybe I'll play around with that feature, the bug could lie there! When I move the screen I hear that sound like a USB unplugging. Perhaps the screen is connected by an internal USB? Or the lid switch or hinge is hitting a USB circuit? I'll keep plugging away. (sorry)

The cover is the monitor. Maybe the connection is there.

I did a lot of updates via the eSony vaio site, found a lot of out of date things. One involving the display driver. Another that re-installed my "VAIO care" which is a helpful little gizmo that gives you reminders of available software and driver updates. So all in all, it STOPPED the message from coming up from the tool bar, however I can still duplicate the USB noise via moving the lid/screen/monitor, however that may have always done that because it there is the lid switch involved. I managed to get a Sony rep who told me it could be a pinched monitor cable that feeds through the hinge, and to "take it easy" on the lid, as it may get worse with overuse. Also should be known by all that switches are all rated for how many uses, before they simply "go". So I'm going away happy, and will consider this "SOLVED"

    Thank you RICHARD ! ! !

Oh and that unknown USB device now says "USB Composite Device" -So it's definitely solved!- I delved a little further and it says Location: Port_#0002.Hub_#0003 if that means anything to you. Hopefully this info may help someone else!

    Cheers!

I feel as though this should be a new subject, but I will follow the rules, unless I don't get any responses.

The title of the new thread would be "BSOD USB BUG CODE ERROR" caused by movement of laptop screen" -

This is somehow connected to that as you can read from earlier posts when I thought I'd had the problem solved.

That one girl from Sony Japan, happened to chat w/me, and although I was outside the warranty period, she did state that there have been some issues with BSOD USB BUG CODE ERROR that were directly related to the cable/wire that connects to the screen, getting twisted in the hinge. Also could be a switch thing, as there is a switch located in the lid/door just like the one that turns on and off your refrigerator light.

That being said, do any of you recommend, a little "investigative surgery" here? I mean, I've replaced the keyboard on this by watching a YouTube video. - I know most of your repairs involve looking at this driver and that BIOS file, but I believe I've gotten double and triple backups for all those things to no avail.

Well that SF File is attached.

Also a word file I copy and pasted of the info I got upon restarting after the crash. Hope it helps. - Jack
