It also shows my memory being 2x KHX1600C9D3/4GX. Does this have anything to do with a fact that these sticks were purchased as a kit? I mean if kingston labels individual sticks as 4gx and the whole kit as 8gx?

I think you are best off getting chip(s) that are on the QVL.
You can always ask ASUS for confirmation of the particular chip(s) you plan to purchase.
I'll order new pair or ram from the qvl list. They should probably arrive day after tomorrow. Will post back then.
You should get RAM that will run at 1.50v, as recommended by Intel.
You also need to keep the RAM voltage and the CPU IMC (Integrated Menory Controller) voltage within 0.50v.
Runs fine with 1 RAM card installed and crashes when two are installed, correct?
All memtest86+ passes with no errors or stopping by itself, correct?
It is possible the RAM may be incompatible, if it's on your QVL it should be ok.
Let's do a few setting adjustments but, first we need some info.
Can you download CPUZ and post a snip of the CPU, Mainboard, Memory, and SPD tabs.
For posting the information , enter 'Snipping tool' in the Start button > Search box, hit enter. Select the area you want to post and save to a convenient place.

Have you been checking your temperatures?
Use Real Temp , to check the CPU temps when at idle, under load and/or testing.
Let us know the minimum and maximum temps you get.
Go to your BIOS and tell us what the CPU, RAM and the CPU integrated memory controller voltages are, IMC is VCCIO Voltage pg 216 in your manual.
This is important in order to make RAM settings adjustments.

The QVL states which rams are to qualified and the list is very precise and thorough.
There was confusion because came in a box with a number that didn't correspond to the chips.
My script. Speccy, SIW all showed the same thing which was different than what was on the box.
With the correct chips there will be no need to mess around with any settings, etc.
you will find that the output of Speccy and SIW are quite complete.
I thought he said it was on the list, I didn't check myself.

These new boards are much better but, sometimes with 4GB of RAM or more you might need to bump the IMC a little. It's easier than RMA and having the same issue with new RAM. I have seen that happen before.

I will post you the screens from cpuz when I get back home. As for the temps I've never seen them rise into anything alarming. (cpu being well under 60c even on heavy usage, and gpu in 75-80c tops. I've used realtemp ever since I started building machines so it has become trusty tool
Like Dave said I get problems when I have 2 sticks in place but with 1 stick everything seems fine. And I remember thinking about getting a 1.5v ram when building but for some reason ended up with my current hyperx set.
For the increase of vccio value I've been in faith that you wont have to touch these volts until more than 2 sticks are installed? Maybe a wrong info from my part.
Still haven't heard from asus about my ram being good or not.
Anyway lets see what we can do tomorrow when I can post my current settings.

Temps sound ok.
It's not the number of RAM sticks but the total amount of RAM, 8GB - 2X4GB is a lot of chips to power.
What does Asus have to do with your RAM?
What did you send and where?
If you sent your RAM to Asus, they won't do anything with it. They are only concerned with the motherboard.
