    BSOD - No changes lately?

    Hi!

Today I all of a sudden got a BSOD when starting my PC. It has worked flawlessly since I installed the OS on my new harddrive a couple of months ago. I can not remember to have installed any new software og hardware in the last couple of the days that could mess the up the OS.

When I start my PC everythings seems okay until the Welcome-screen and then the bluescreen appears. When I boot up with Safe Mode (with network) I do not have any problems.

I have tried to follow the steps for correct information and uploading of the zip-file. Please let me know if I've done anything wrong or you need more information.

    Thanks,
    dingus.

    Welcome
You have given us only one BSOD dump file. With one file any analysis is no better than an educated guess. In your case the dump shows the problem is due to the hard drive. I would take a hard drive test.

Thanks for your quick reply. I've attached a new zip-file who should contain more dmp-files. Hopefully this will make things easier.

Since I'm in Safe Mode Windows won't allow me to install the Seagate-software you suggested. If all the dump files indicates a problem with my hard drive I will try to connect the hard drive to another PC and run the software from that PC.

Thanks again for the help, it's very much appriciated :)

The reports indicate the hard drive, but they are not always 100% accurate.
I suggest you back up your stuff now and test that drive.

(damn, your fast to reply! )

After reading your suggestion I felt a bit crazy and decided to try the built-in chkdsk in Windows just for sports. It found a few errors and, accordingly to itself, fixed them. My experience with Windows is tough to not trust their programs when they say the fixed a problem.

But to my big surprise my PC now booted normally!

Thanks so much for locating the problem to the disks! I now have a new hero in my life. I'm gonna call me son Richard!

Glad that I could solve your BSOD problem. We are all volunteers and get great satisifaction from helping others. The feeling is magnified in your situation, since you seem so happy and appreciative.
A Son named after me, wow.
I would suggest that you back up your stuff and test the hard drive, it may be failing. If it is failing it will eventually reach the point of no return. You will lose your stuff at that point.

Being thankful is the least I can do after getting some help :)

But today I went from heaven to hell. This morning my PC would not boot. When I used the Windows-CD to try the Startup Repair it could not locate my hard drive and it did not show up as an option in the boot menu. I unplugged the hard drive and connected it to another PC. Then I was able to at least copy my files to an external hard drive, so no more worries about lost files.

I'm gonna run som hard drive-tests on the hard drive from that PC and hopefully it will be a greater success this time.

Anyway, thanks again Richard for all your (quick) help!
