BSOD ntoskrnl.exe 000000f4 when xfer large folders to sata 3TB hdd

    Hi All,

Just found this forum, first time poster. I'm a programmer but don't know too much about hardware/screen dumps etc...To get to the point, I'm encountering the problem below:

Just bought a new cyberpowerpc from Fry's, installed a 3rd hard drive (Western Digital 3TB). Everything seems okay except when I try to copy any large files/folders to the new drive. I'm using a folder that is 11.3GB with 686 files. I can copy it from drive 1 to drive 2 no problem. When I copy it from drive 1 or drive 2 to the third drive (the 3TB one), it will start copying then sometime soon after, explorer will close itself down and the computer will end up rebooting itself. Sometimes there will be a BSOD and sometimes it will just reboot without the BSOD.

I have tried to attach the dmp files etc...using the recommendations of the forum. Any help would be very much appreciated. I'd like to use this new drive for backups (it's the reason I got a new pc, my old one crashed and I didn't have a good backup system).

Thank you for your time, please help if you are able. :)

EDIT: I've run chkdsk, scanf, sea tools etc..on all drives and they all appear to be okay if that helps...

110 Views - any ideas out there? I'm clueless as to what the dmp files are telling me, but am happy to update drivers etc...just looking for some options. I can reproduce this consistently so will know right away if something fixes the problem. Just downloaded and ran the WD DataLifeguard diagnostics and the hard drive passed all tests.

Sometimes I see a message saying "Intel Rapid Storage Technology - Disk on port 0...removed" - could this be a bad driver or something? Also, the HD didn't come with a cable so I just bought the only one i could find at Best Buy - could that make a difference? Thanks!

If nobody can help, could you please provide some links or explain to me how I can decipher the information found in the diagnostic zip file I've included...? Please... :)

Sorry for the late reply, but please be patient. We are all volunteers and are currently swamped. Also, please do not bump as it is against forum rules.

It looks like possible memory problems. Run a RAM - Test with Memtest86+ and post back results

Thank you so much Justin, sorry about the bump, I didn't know - won't happen again. I'll try the Memtest and get back to you.

I ran 7 tests and it said Pass: 7, Errors: 0. I didn't now how to do a screen capture but I took a picture with my phone. It ran for about 8 hours. Is there specific information other than this that you need? If the memory is okay, any other ideas on what might be the culprit? Thank you!

    Code:
Multimedia Audio Controller	PCI\VEN_13F6&DEV_8788&SUBSYS_878813F6&REV_00\4&30547297&0&10F0	The drivers for this device are not installed.
Please install the drivers for this device.

I noticed you ran a chkdsk, but did you run a SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker ?

Try running a SFC and post back results.

I did run sfc /scannow previously and everything looked good. I have an appointment in 30 minutes but will try again when I get back.

The pc crashed again last night while I was asleep so it looks like now it's occurring even without copying files or doing any work which is not a good sign...

Any idea where I would find the multimedia controller drivers? Should I just google that string? Thanks!

The SFC /SCANNOW just completed and said it did not find any integrity violations. Any other ideas? Also, I think the multimedia audio controller device might be referring to an old sound card I was going to use. I'll just take the card out, I don't think there are any windows 7 drivers for it (it was an old SoundBlaster Live 5.1 card I think - it's been with me awhile...)

Any other ideas on what I can try?
