PC BSOD's at Windows loading screen

My friend's computer has been BSODing (random error messages, usually memory related) with increasing frequency over the past few weeks. It currently blue screens at the windows logo, giving a generic "windows has encountered an error" message (no error code). I cannot get into the desktop to download any crash files (even in safe mode). I am fairly certain the CPU is the issue, as putting it in my (previously working) computer destroyed two of my motherboard's DIMM slots. Additionally, putting my working CPU in his computer did not affect the BSOD problem at all. This is about all I have to work on, sorry. If we can figure out a way to get it to boot that would be a splendid beginning.


His computer:
M4A87TD EVO motherboard
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Deneb 3.2 GHz AM3 processor
Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600 Desktop Memory CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B
Apower 750W PSU (not sure what model, never even heard of this brand, but it works)
Various different confirmed working hard drives
Some low end NVIDIA card that is confirmed working (swapping other GPUs in doesn't help)
Unknown software/driver status at this time (will not boot to desktop)

I've tried a few times with a few different recovery disks I have, and each one either BSODs or freezes at the windows loading screen again. :\

If you put a good cpu in his computer and it did not help its not cpu

There is little we can do if you cant boot. Lets make sure it is not hardware. Here are our hardware tests. Take your time, Ill be away for a day or two

I can tell you that the issue is not the memory, hard drive, GPU, disk drive, or power supply. All of these things have been tested in separate computers and verified to be working. If you read my original post, you will see that the CPU caused my working computer to BSOD, leading me to believe that that may be the culprit.

However, when I put HIS cpu in MY computer, it destroyed two of the DIMM slots on my motherboard that are now permanently defective, no matter what CPU I put in it. This could be why his still BSODs as well no matter what CPU I put in it. Let me know if this makes sense.

Just following what you are saying, you now have two bad slots. You may need a new mother board. There is nothing that we can do until all the known defects are corrected.

Just to confirm, I have two bad slots in the motherboard of a separate computer. Not my friend's computer. It is very possible that he has 2, 3, or 4 bad slots as well, but I have no way to confirm it.

EDIT: I got memtest to run, so I will try and use that to diagnose the DIMM slots.

Yes, it is possible that there are bad slots on that computer.
The test must be run overnight and then you must test each ram in a known good slot.
Im gone, now, for a day or two.
