good now, go back to an elevated command prompt and run, once again:

    CHKDSK /R C:

After that run that script again and attach the resulting file once again.

Let's hope chkdsk gives a better report this time.

Go To an Elevated Command Prompt

Elevated command prompt = Run CMD.EXE as administrator

WIN | type CMD.EXE | do not hit Enter |
in the PROGRAMS list, right-click on CMD.EXE |
    choose "Run as administrator" |

Click on the YES button (if such appears)

WIN key = key with Microsoft log on top

    for the guru:
    WIN | type CMD.EXE | CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER key combo | ALT+Y keycombo

    ======================================================

Please rerun the script and attach the results.

running the script again do u mean going into powershell again? it seems that i get almost the same log as the first time...

    well greenlocal,
Stop clearing out the event logs for one thing.

that file should have shown the new and old and it did not.

We will try just a couple of more things before a clean install is the only solution.

Burn SeaGate Tools for DOS to a CD and run the extended test on your hard drive.

    http://www.seagate.com/staticfiles/s...sDOS223ALL.ISO

The download is an iso file. Put a blank cd/dvd into your optical drive. Double-click on the iso and click on the resulting Burn button.
