Windows 7: I've had many different BSODs randomly, and I'm at wit's end.

The machine is barely four months old. Mobo is at factory defaults, and everything I have is showing all 8 cores. I had the cores unlocked at one point, but I thought that may have been part of the issue, so I relocked them with the BIOS.

I'll check the ASUS site shortly and I'll test the CPUZ as well.

hmm

nothing much here.. its not unlocked still 8 core..

Well let me know what you see in with the ASUS software.... or you could check the bios and see what setting are there.

Oh .... if you do check the bios... do set the settings to default... and check to see if they make a difference...

Per my wife's....(ahem) suggestion, I've set up an RMA for this. I can't send it til next week, but I'll work until then, just in case.

Also, all Bios are set to default.

Ok good

Has it by the way BSOD ?? Is it just the Heating thats the problem now ??

I have a feeling if CPU is heating at such high temperatures.... There may not be any Thermal Paste between CPU and and the Heatsink..... since dust has been ruled out ...this is the only other probable cause i can think of...

Then again there are cases where maybe the heat sink was not properly fixed to the motherboard..... Try checking this visually if possible...

TECHNICALLY, it has not BSOD. However, it has completely locked up and crashed several times, forcing a reboot.

I'm currently thoroughly documenting my troubleshooting steps to the repairs department so when they boot the machine they can share in the torment it's given me.

I'm a little annoyed that I've had the machine for about 20 weeks, and 18 of those weeks has been spent troubleshooting, and THEN I have to pay to ship the machine back to the other side of the country, wait for them to rebuilt/replace it, and then wait another month for it to be sent back to me (it took well over a month to get the device when I first bought it).

I understand how you feel

I hope we were able to help you as much as possible.....

If i were you i wouldn't even care to send it back to RMA....the point is the warranty still stays for 1 year... so in effect you will have maybe less than 6 months of warranty left even after getting it repaired...

Well, since I'm hella stubborn, I'm doing one more thing. I'm going to install XP on my secondary drive as a once-and-for-all test, since I'm too broke to send the machine in right now (I have to pay for shipping from Upstate NY to CA, so I'm expecting 75-100 shipping).

If this works, I may try to milk a little more life out of this machine until warranty is almost out.

Well, the way I figure it, if I can get it up and running with XP, then it means that it's a software issue. If it's still crapping out, then I can point that it's a hardware issue.
