Solved I've had many different BSODs randomly, and I'm at wit's end.

A good lesson for me too... If anyone says they did memtest... i going to take that with pinch of salt !!!

Well just wait for a day running at the current setup, then one by one add the peripherals..... then put back the graphics card after a day of normal working without bsod... with the latest right drivers...

If it doesn't BSOD through all this... your good to go..and then you can mark this as solved.

The only missing peripheral missing really is the video card. Everything else was right out the box, so to speak. When I reformatted, all I really lost was some of the software I installed, like my Steam games, or my MS Office (which I kind of don't need, since it was Starter, without Outlook), and my OS Updates. I hadn't even gotten to switch mice yet, since I've had such a busy weekend I couldn't look for my other ones.

Though, I think I like 7zip better than WinRar.

Something to note- I seem to not be able to start SpeedFan every so often. Like, I start it, it gets halfway to loading and crashes the system. I'm not worried, as I've grown to love CoreTemp, but just something else of note.

So far, no crash. However, I haven't done a lot with it either. Between tonight and tomorrow I will put it through some of the things I've done before when it crashed and see how well it handles.

Just throwing this out there, I once did a house call for someone who bought a dell on which they had neglected to ever plug in the fan for the cpu heatsink on.

Are you sure all the fans are actually spinning when the machine is on?

And heat like that... all the time, is a hardware issue.
It should be able to run under full load without reaching those temps.

I've checked the fans, yes. I'll check again when I get home tonight.

And that high heat I mentioned before was just a spike- I am usually running between 20-45c, and maybe 55c when I'm running something heavy.

Did an overnight "stress test" of sorts. I installed Diablo3, and left it running on high settings for a while when I went to bed. Normally, this would have crashed it - but nope!

Sorry for the continuous check-ins, but I figured it's better to over-inform.

So far, so good. The computer has been up and running for 2 days now, and CoreTemp is recording a low/high of 19*/58*. The high is a little higher than normal, but my room has been pretty warm over the last two days, and I'm too cheap to buy an Air Conditioner for the last two weeks of summer, so I'll deal with that (since it's still well below TJMAX).

If I don't crash tonight, I think I'll reintroduce the 6700 card and test that.

I've also updated Windows fully, and installed my Steam games. As of right now, the only other weird thing that I have happening is that my external HDD keeps going into "Write Protected" mode.

Try taking ownership of the drive...

right click on the HDD
go to properties > security
Click Advanced
Click Owner
Click Edit
Select your username and dont forget to check the "Replace owner on subcontainers and Objects"
Click OK ( you will 2 warnings ... but click ok to go ahead )

This process would take sometime depending on the number of files on the drive...

I've already done that (was in the process of doing it as I types).

Still no crashes, decent temperature. Gonna adjust my RMA for a single RAM instead of the whole machine.

In any case.... RAM's dont cost much.... buy a new one if you can... waiting for RMA to work is going to take a long time...

I'm in no absolute rush with the RAM to be frank. I've still got four gigs so I can afford to wait a bit. And maybe I can get them to give me a voucher from Best Buy or something and I can just exchange there.

And yes- very relieved. It would have bothered the bejesus out of me had I sent it in, since I would never figure out the issue. Ironically, I was going to just build it myself, but I didn't want to wait.
