BSOD and other crashes, error 0x800700b7 and others

Hi,

I'll set up my BSOD problems. I run Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Last night my desktop started, without any seeming cause, to slow down and not respond. I tried rebooting and my Windows wouldn't finish loading-- many of the desktop and taskbar icons appeared as blank pages; clicking anything or trying to run a program failed, until eventually Windows crashed altogether. Attempted restarts have failed; I can run my desktop in Safe Mode (what I am doing now) but that's it.

I attempted System Restores to my two most recent points and they both failed. I attempted to restore from two points previous to that and the restore failed due to error 0x800700b7

Since my computer won't restart or run at all, I tried to boot from a Windows 7 CD and proceed from there. The system restore tools there were unsuccessful, and attempting to proceed further with a new install returned a BSOD that suggested my hard drive may be the problem and, among other things, I should run CHKDSK /F if nothing else works.

I received this message on the BSOD:

STOP: 0x0000007B (0xFFFFFADF2A8323C0, 0xFFFFFFFFC0000034, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000)

I've run the Seven Forums BSOD software and attached the results here.

What seems to be the problem and how do I fix it?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello,

Go to: C:\Windows\Minidump.

Are there files in there? If so, please zip them and post them.

Hi,

No such directory exists. I do remember when I clicked the "Minidump" button on the Seven Forums software I got a "no dump found" popup box.

Make sure they are configured correctly: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD

This is what i can do without the files:

Code:
Security Processor Loader Driver	ROOT\LEGACY_SPLDR\0000	This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed.
Update your latest graphic driver.

Since you use torrent, scan for viruses:

Quote:
Do a full scan of your system using: Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

Afterwards: Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download

If nothing pops up for both of those,

try: Windows Defender Offline
Post back results.

Hi,

I was out of town for the weekend so I wasn't able to get this until now. But I tried everything you suggested and nothing changed. I even went ahead and changed the configuration to create a complete dump after a BSOD and I still got nothing.

I've attached the most recent results from the Seven Forums diagnostic tool.

What is going on? Am I suffering an undiagnosed hardware issue? Am I getting an undetectable virus? I find it bizarre that despite all the precautions I undertake, virtually this same thing happened a year ago to my desktop, and now it's happening to both my desktop and my laptop at the same time.
