    Several BSOD

    Hey forumers.

I've tried to solve my problems, but cant. I found out that im getting different BSOD from time to time. The most of them are on the startup. Everytime i startup i get 3-4 BSOD and are just pressing the "start windows normally" button till it starts up. I have tried the repairs, but they doesnt help. Sometimes and only sometimes im getting the BSOD randomly when the computer is started up and running.

I dont know if this could be something with my SLI connection doesnt work. I have 2 GeForce 8800 GTS 512 MB with af SLI connection, but i cant enable the SLI "functions" as windows only detects 1 graphic card. I tested both Graphic cards and they are both fine, they just cant work "together". I dont want you to solve this problem atm, but im just providing you the informations if this could make the problem :)

Hope to hear from you soon

    Hi

You have serious problem with the hardware....mainly the graphics card or memory..... As per the dmps and logs you there is memory corruption on with either of the graphics card memory...

Here is what you need to do ....

    1. Do a memtest on you RAM for 8 passes... if this shows no errors... then you RAM is fine...

    2. Once the above is done .... do remove one of the cards .... and see if you are gettiing BSOD .... try removing the cards one by one do the check..

Let me know how this goes...

Are there any guides for memtest? and the second option is that the GPU or the RAM?

To do memtest follow this tutorial

If there is a problem with you GPU memory there is nothing much you can do other than getting it replaced... in any case you can also do this test as well

The memtest you would need to do atleast for 8 passes... so leave it overnight

For graphics card do it 1 card at a time...

Let me know how this goes...

Thanks i will try that out tomorow or when i have time for this.

What is the purpose of the GPU stress test? do I have to do it with both cards one at the time or just run it? and how will it tell me if i have any problems?

Edit: Also, is it possible to run the memtest with a virtual clone drive or do I have to use a usb or dvd?

GPU stress test is to see if your graphics card has problem..... if you see any artifacts... meaning any shuttering or the graphics is not displaying properly your card has problem

Yes you would need to do it separately for each card.

No you can't do with virtual clone drive... this has to be done with dvd or usb.

i have tried looking on the test of the graphic cards and im a little concerned for the temperature of the GPU isnt 100 C much for a graphic card? i dont want to melt it!

Well dont worry you won't melt it if you watch the temperatures

Here is a nice article to explain the process better..

90 deg c is decent enough temperature to set an alarm... your card shouldn't go up to this temp....if it does ... then you seriously cooling issue... maybe due to dust..

I have cleaned my computer for less than a month adding a new CPU Cooler instead of the intel standard cooler. The new cooler takes alot of space, but also cooling the other elements. But the my GPU gets a little warmer when there are 2 connected in a SLI connection. It makes my primary card "shooting" hot air into the other GPU. I also have the GPU-Z program running. It gives me 2 GPU temp numbers and 2 PCB (dont know what PCB is). The first GPU showing 62 C while watching non-hd streaming and playing LOL. The other GPU temp is only 52 C. The PCB at 47 C and im not testing yet.

Is it showing 2 temps because of the 2 cards installed or is it normal? It says NVIDIA SLI "disable".

Which version of GPU-z are you using .... it should show as SLI enabled ...the current version is 0.6.4

Check if SLI is enabled in bios and the SLI bridge is slotted in properly.... set the bios to defaults and make sure its not overclocked... and update the display drivers..... Let me know if it still BSOD.... if it does... then go ahead and do the Stress test....
