I installed Windows 8 yesterday, It was great, until it started random crashing. It crashed 5 times with same error (I think). The error is: Windows 8 BSOD - SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED - ndu.sys.

For crash report from W8 File Collector see the attached file.

What can cause it and how can I fix it?
Thanks in advance

Driver Reference Table - Ndu.sys

Try two things .... get all windows updates , not only the security updates. At the same time, go to your hardware manufacturer's website and try to download the latest latest network drivers.

I would also suggest you to enable Driver verifier, and post another BSOD dump if you get one afte rthe driver verifier enabled.

Thanks for Replying guys.

Anthony, I knew that, I've also opened threads on Windows 8 forums, but some problems can be troubleshooted similarly on win7/8

Arc, thanks, I'll try it. I wasn't able to find verifier as i don't have start menu, but I run it through Win+R>verifier command.

I'll report later.
Thanks Again

Sure mate. let us know .

Nice username BTW :)

As soon as I enabled driver verifier on the next boot it gave BSOD because of RTCore64.sys.

That driver is related to msi afterburner. I booted to safe mode and removed MSI Afterburner/RealTemp/UltraISO as guys from 8forums suggested.

Now everything is working good so far, verifier is still enabled, no BSODs...
Hope it will stay the same way =)

The only problem is that I was controlling VGA fan speed with MSI Afterburner and now it will get a little hot, because default fan speed controller really sucks. I can manually set fan speed with AMD OverDrive, but that's not an option...

Anyway, Thanks for replying. Hope we have found the problem, time will tell...
And if Windows 8 has issues with Afterburner, I'm sure, that developers will release the compatible version soon.

Thank You!
I'll let you know in a day or two if i get BSODs or not.

Nice to know. :)

If you are out of issues, disable the driver verifier; and for controlling the fan, you may think for a nice alternative SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer .

Hello Again

So 3 days have passed and do you want to know how many BSODs I experienced? - NONE!

Thanks to you =)

BTW, UltraISO is back - no problems.
MSI Afterburner/Realtemp got replaced with SpeedFan (thanks for the hint ;)) - With correct configuration it can control GPU fan speed as well as MSI Afterburner (adding it to startup is another story, because it needs administrator privileges, so moving shortcut to Startup folder didn't work. I've added Speedfan to startup with Task Scheduler).

The only thing I'm lacking right now is in game on-screen-display, but I can live with that.

Thanks Again.

Hello Kashmir, do you have any firewall or antivirus software installed? Which ones?

I use Avast free version, no firewall installed, windows firewall - disabled.

I got tired with experiments, so I just reinstalled whole system. ATM I have Avast running as well as MSI afterburner. No BSODs after reinstalling OS.

Thank you for your support
