New build, BSOD when installing more than 2Gb of memory

    Hi,

This problem has been driving me crazy for some time now and I can't find any solutions anywhere.

It is a new build and it runs fine with 2Gb of memory installed, but as soon as i insert a second memory stick it goes through BIOS and 2-5 seconds of the Windows Logo before a bluescreen flashes by and the screen goes black.
It will reboot and perform a Windows repair but with the same result.

Same thing happens if I install my graphics card.

Any help would be highly appreciated, since running on 2Gb of memory and on-board graphics isn't my plan:)

    Regards,
    Lamox

    Welcome
Your post, itself, hints at the problem as do your reports

    Run for 8 passes.
Then test each stick in a good slot for 6 passes.
If you have dual channel, the results may be incorrect, if shows pass.

Hi, and thanks for the welcome.

I forgot to mention in my post that I've tested the memory for seven passes and all sticks are good, and all slots are working fine.

    Everything points to memory.
Make sure that you did the test correctly and for the required number of passes.
If you are dual channel the results may not be correct.
Did you ever buy more ram and mixed and matched.
    Reseat the sticks.

Ok, I'll run a new set with memtest.
I bought a new motherboard, CPU, and 4(2*2)Gb of extra memory on top of the 2*2 I had. Hoping to get 8Gb of memory but now stuck with 2...

Also, it was impossible to install Win7 with 4Gb, crashed every time. Took me some time to figure out to try with 2Gb.

You should never mix and match. I think that may be the problem.
