System crashing when PC sleeps

Hi,

I recently rebuilt my PC and have been having repeated shutdowns when the PC tries to sleep. I can run the machine all day if it is active (gaming, video, music) and there is no problem. Every time the PC tries to sleep it dies and needs a reboot, each time booting into the screen telling me it "did not shutdown normally".

I realize a simple solution might be to just change the power settings to never sleep but this is a HTPC and could be left for several hours if not attended. I'm also concerned this might be the early signs of a more serious problem as this was my first build from scratch.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Chris

Hi Frederik,

Thanks very much for the reply. In asnwer to your questions:

The "hma" task is a VPN. The crash seems to happen sometimes when it's runnign and sometimes not so i haven't established a link here.

Attached to the computer are: VIA USB - 1. An external harddrive 2. A webcam 3. a Bluetooth dongle for keyboard and mouse and that is about it. VIA other outputs : just the standard Audio out (3.5mm jack) + video out (HDMI)

I am not running any software that i am aware of that is controlling power settings

I have tried with and without adaptors but over the long run i'm not going to have much choice to be honest as i don't have enough sockets. Hope it isn't this!

Thanks,
Chris

Thank you Chris.

Try to plugout everything except your keyboard and mouse.

Reboot the system with that setup.

Best Regards,
Frederik.
