Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions Thank you very much for replying, however I can not get that information as once I managed to boot windows by running SATA compatability mode the BSOD stopped occurring. Now I can also get past the welcome screen (it still takes longer than it used to before these problems occurred but not like it was yesterday taking hours, it now only takes about 10 minutes which is perfectly fine)
However I now have another problem in that I have attempted to run chkdsk /r /f and it has been stuck on file 22453 of stage 4 of 5 verifying files for approximately 4 hours now. Not sure if this is normal for a badly damaged drive and it will continue after time, or if 4 hours on one individual file means it has hung? Before it got to this file and stuck it was on file 19733 for about 30 minutes and then after that it said "Windows replaced bad clusters in file 19733 of name \PROGRA~3\MICROS~1\WINDOW~1\Scans\MPCACH~1.VE0. [it might say VEO not VE0, I can't quite tell.]
Also avast would not run any service and I had to uninstall and reinstall it (repair would not work, got stuck on VPS) after I reinstalled it the computer instanty went much faster (despite it not detecting any viruses, could it perhaps be the viruses already in its chest were loose on the system when it wasn't working and when I reinstalled they were back in the chest? I ran a boot time scan of avast and it found win32.installmate-l [PUP] (might be slightly spelt differently, didn't write it down)which I moved I the virus chest. (No idea if it is related)
My system is a Toshiba satellite l750D-14R all hardware the same as it comes in the box.
Sorry for any typos, writing this on my phone which has a tendenacy to autocorrect words incorrectly.
