BSOD ramdom probably graphics

Hi,
I just subscribed as I can not find the reason for many BSOD I am having in the past months.

First I have to say that the cause is likely to be hardware as in the same rig I have Linux in another hard disk and also suffer the same type of crash.

The BSOD happens mainly following this sequence of events:

- mcreen starts to show some artifacts, (small squares in groups and 4 small lines over the pointer in the screen)
- mouse freezes - display freezes (sounds work) for 5-8 seconds
- display resets
- then (sometimes) a message appears at bottom right of screen"display driver has failed and succesfully recovered..."
- few seconds later the process starts again. This can be happening from 2 to 10 times and finally the BSOD appears and the computer restart.

My guess is the graphic card but also could be memory (RAM) or who knows what. I just would like an expert opinion before buying anything new.

Here it goes the SF_Diagnosis tool for BSOD (SF_siete7.zip) and computer specs:

Thanks a lot

Update your Atheros Wireless LAN USB device driver from ATHEROS drivers for Microsoft Windows (Atheros?????). It is very old, it is of 2008.

I should add a couple of things:

-run memory tests86 : 2 passes. everything OK
-run prime 95 Self-test 720K passed 4 times
-updated bios a month ago. No change, still BSOD

Arc> if I find that driver, I will delete it as I am not using it a all

Then you may use driver sweeper.

And, run memtest for at least 7-8 passes. But only after removing the driver, if it still crashes.

Have you traced that problematic driver?

hi again.
Go rid of "athrxusb.sys" which I think it is the driver you mention.

I still think it is more a hardware problem as my linux distro also crashes in a similar way. What I am not so sure is the cause. It must be something they share (linux and windows) in the way they interact with the hardware.

I hope it helps.

thanks

Done memtest86
.
8 passes
.
Everything ok.

Guessing is the graphic card or mobo.

Any ideas how to test the graphic card or mobo?

Anyone interested?

done Furmark 1.10

2000 frames (5fps avg)
temperature stable at 92
no artefacts

So, I guess it is the mobo.

Well, I summarize a bit in case anyone would like to have a look at the BSOD logs and make sense out of this:

- windows 7 and linux fail in a similar way
- each os in a separate hard disk of the computer
- BSOD random (videos seem to be a start point)
- pattern as follows: artefacts in screen-frozen display for secs-recovering display-and BSOD

hard discs ok (smart status fine)
RAM ok - 8 passes ok
graphics ok - furmark 1.10
CPU ok- primer 95 4 times passed

Any help with the logs is welcome
