Crashes does only happen during shut downs? Was that true? Let's try CCleaner.

§ Download the newest CCleaner from Filehippo.com
§ Follow the wizard, choose the options you'd prefer
§ Launch it
§ Startup-tab.
§ One-by-one, ensure that there's entries and software that you don't like being started

§ Press Save to text file, and upload it here @Seven Forums.

Avast is kind of a new thing... about a few months maybe 3... i switched from AVG to Avast
