    BSOD PFN_LIST_CORRUPT. Happens anytime- hot or cold, idling or gaming

    Hi all

    I've had some trouble with BSODs that can happen at anytime and not when I'm doing anything in particular. I have only recently noted the PFN_LIST_CORRUPT and have tried to search for my own solution but without joy.

    I've tried the usual updating drivers etc. the puzzling thing is that the BSOD has happened during a fresh install of Win7 x64.

    I hope you guys can help.

    Hello Elmer.

    As you stated, you had a Bugcheck 4E, PEN_LIST_CORRUPT. Generally it is caused by either a device driver or memory issue.
    Code:
    ......
    *******************************************************************************
    *                                                                             *
    *                        Bugcheck Analysis                                    *
    *                                                                             *
    *******************************************************************************

    Use !analyze -v to get detailed debugging information.

    Probably caused by : memory_corruption ( nt!MiBadShareCount+4c )

    ► Before going to do anything further, let us enable Driver Verifier.
    Run driver verifier for next 24 hours or the occurrence of the next dump, whichever is earlier.

    Report us the result, with the crash dump, if any.

    ► You are slightly overclocked.
    Code:
    kd> !sysinfo cpuspeed
    CPUID:        "Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz"
    MaxSpeed:     3400
    CurrentSpeed: 3411
    As it is crashing, better you get back to default for the time being.

    BSOD after another clean install. 'device driver caught'

    Hi Arc

    I've had to do another reinstall after I aborted an install of CivV and it's accompanying Steam Client software which slowed the SSD down to a 2 min start up which was only 14 secs.

    There was no PFN** this time, just a message saying 'a device driver attempting to corrupt the system has been caught' etc etc.

    The system has been running very slow ever since.

    As requested please find attached further SF report. Driver verifier was enabled.

    The only drivers I had installed were:
    • Intel P8 chipset (from MB disc)
    • Marvell 91xx driver (from MB disc for 6GB)
    • Realtek Ethernet Controller Driver
    • and 94 updates from MS update.
    • Nvidia garphics driver 306.23

    Elmer, your problem is related to your chipset drivers, I think. It is Asushwio.sys.
    Code:
    .....
    *******************************************************************************
    *                                                                             *
    *                        Bugcheck Analysis                                    *
    *                                                                             *

    It is very old, too!
    Code:

        Translations:     0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4
    It may be related to your motherboard chipset, Asus Rampage Formula; or your sound card, ASUS Xonar DG.

    My apologies that I am not sure what is the source of the driver, but you are to update it, that I can say.

    Sorry for not being helpful at the right time. It's the lack of my knowledge. I am new in debugging.
