BSOD 116 while gaming

I have had this problem for awhile. It only happens during gaming and I can't seem to run it down. I believe I have updated all my drivers, tested memory with no errors, check temps which are all within range. I ran check disk, no errors, ran the system file checker, no problems. PSU meter tests check out. Ran driver sweeper to clean out old drivers, updated the nvidia drivers, I'm out of solutions here.

I RMA'ed my 580gtx, ran a 560ti temporarily which also had BSOD's with different codes, installed the new 580gtx and within an hour had a 116. I have no idea what is causing this problem. I have attached the SF Diag files. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the reply. I ran the Prime95 with no problems. Ran Furmark, walked away for about an hour and came back and my system had rebooted so I'm assuming it crashed like it would in a video game. I did watch the temp on the card for awhile before I left and it never went above 86 degrees C. I have had my case up on my desk, open for awhile as I figured I might have a heat problem but evidently not. I have even tried running a fan on the system to keep the temps down even further but this problem persists. My mobo is only a few months old as I did replace it when the last one up and died but I don't think there is a problem with that either.

Funny thing is nothing else gives me problems. I run Photoshop and other art software without any problems. How should I proceed?

Edit: I also noticed the code you posted. Is that from one of my crash dumps because I don't have an ATI card and I have never put one in this system.

I started reading some other parts of the forums and took a look at my cpu heat. I downloaded HWinfo64 and the digital thermal sensor had the heat at over 50 degrees C when idle. I believe my Tcase is supposed to be 69.8. So i'm guessing this might be the problem.

Went and checked my power options and it was set (for some reason) to 100% minimum power. I put the options on balanced and the temp has dropped to the high 30's low 40's which I still realize is kind of high for idle so I'm betting I need to reapply some thermal paste.

Let me know if you think this isn't the route to go but, if so, what would be a good thermal paste to use?

There are a lot of good ones. Arctic Silver, Noctua NT-H1, IC Diamond just to name a few. I like to use Core Temp or Real temp for temps. But you are reading TJ Max with temp monitoring programs which is higher, usually than T case. T Case is the temp in the center of the CPU itself which programs can't read. Core temp and real temp will tell you what TJMax is for your CPU. Also, do you know how to apply thermal paste?

It's been awhile since I've used it but I'm sure there are some videos I can watch to refresh my memory. So should I try to use a different temp program and check it out? Does this sound like it could be the problem? I'm going to run some games and see if this crashes now that I adjusted my power options and see if it crashes today or tomorrow but if I need to go another route, I'm open to whatever you guys suggest.

What cooler do you have on the CPU and are you overclocked? There are several methods of applying paste, this is a good example of one.

It's a corsair cooler but this doesn't look to be the problem. I just crashed and rebooted with a 116 error. I was logging the temps with Core Temp and watching them on my G13 screen and the hottest core only got to 51 degrees Cel. So evidently this is not the problem.

Earlier today I also removed the video drivers using driver force and did a clean install. So what can I do now?

Well, I'm not a BSOD person, but I believe a 116 error is a video card error. usually either drivers, overheating or a power problem. I would reinstall the drivers and monitor temps. I use Driver Sweeper in safe mode to clean the old drivers. Put a check mark by the Nvidia display drivers only. Click analize then clean, reboot into Windows as normal. When you install the Nvidia drivers, select custom install and make sure to check the clean install box, then install. You can monitor your temps with the EVGA Precision X program. It can be used on your keyboard led screen.

Reinstall your NVIDIA drivers following method:

Different culprits pointed towards your NVIDIA Graphics Driver. Driver Sweeper will ensure that you'd have a clean install at the end of the procedure, and by that no leftover files that'd bork the system.

NVIDIA

Make your way to Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers(option 2 preferable) and download the latest driver for your card, save it to your desktop for instance
Uninstall the Graphic driver you currently have and all its extensions (do not reboot yet)

Download Driver Sweeper

Get to safe mode (without network) and search for Driver Sweeper in your START

Select all the NVIDIA components and analyse them

Clean them, head into Windows without internet and install the driver you've downloaded previously
