BSOD: random and error "The bugcheck code: 0x0000009f"

    Hello
My laptop is a Dv7-3165dx running Windows 7 home edition. Service Pack 1 64-bit OS . when i start up my computer, everything is fine it loads up i sign in and the desktop loads up with no problem.

i've had a problem where my laptop would not respond when closing the lid, shutting down, restarting, hibernating.. but not so much when i did hibernate it so i have been doing this for the past year. it would turn to a blank screen after it says shutting down or any of the other ones and it will stay on, the fan will turn into high gear(speed up) and the laptop would get really hot after this. i would have to press the power button to turn it off.

Sometimes while im just doing some easy task like on chrome, the laptop will stop responding, not even the task manager will come on, i would be stuck on a blank screen when i press CTRL ALT DELETE and then a message couple moments later " Failure to display security and shut down options" so i would have to power off, and start it back up fresh.

It was only yesterday that after when it was not responding that i tried to restart it, logged off, was shutting down, it took about like 5 minutes of hanging before i got the blue screen DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE. I looked into it and on Bluescreenview were athrx.sys+b280b ntoskrnl.exe+e96c2 in red. i updated my drivers and i shut down couple times with no problems then when i went to shut down later on i got another blue screen but this time its only ntoskrnl.exe+e96c2. I dont know how to fix this, if all of the stated problems are connected or if this is seperate. Sorry for the essay.

Thanks so much, i appreciate it.
updating from the device manager wasn't working out, kept saying everything was up to date so i manually installed the 3 network drivers and BIOS.
the whole day its been working like it never did before. I at least restarted this like 15 times LMAO. closed the lid and turned it back on again and no problems at all.
    again Thank you.

I didn't have a BSOD, if you could remember ^ that was the first time getting it while having the problem.. its like.. before i wouldn't leave the laptop on that long enough while it wasn't responding and i would turn it off from the button. but the time i left it hanging there i got the surprise. BSoD. I did get the problem till after like 4-5 days later.

the day it happened again , i tried hibernating it and it jus stayed on a blank screen so i just turned it off. and it happened just now again.. i tried shutting down and it just hanged there doing absolutely nothing.
I think its because of the windows update. it updated the same Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter. (athrx.sys)
Im thinking of doing a system restore and not updating from the windows update again, but from the HP website.
    what do you think?

Please upload the dumps first. An improper decision may make it worse.
