BSOD when running any virus scan

Looking at a friends Aspire one laptop Windows 7 basic 32bit. It had no antivirus and had never run windows update even though its always online. I fully updated windows and installed MS security essentials but blue screens happen after a few minutes of scanning. Uninstalled and tried Microsoft safety scanner msert download but this virus check also crashed the system with a blue screen. I'd like to perform a full virus scan but can not. Seems stable otherwise and using it now to post this report.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Thanks for reply.

It should have been a standard kernel memory dump in default location and used grab all (run as admin) then zipped it, don't know how its corrupted.

I think this may be a hardware / heat issue CPU or RAM. I've kept it cool and not connected the power adaptor and am now unable to get it to blue screen, nearly completed a full scan but about to run out of battery - it would crash within 10mins every time I tired a virus scan at least 6 BSOD crashes yesterday. If I get another BSOD I'll grab again and repost the new zip file.
