Jim you may need to write the ISO to stick using another PC. Use the tool in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 .

Then when ready boot it by tapping F9 key, look for stick under USB, removable or HD.

Thanks, Greg. Doing that now. Last night was date night so had to wait until I got to work.

So if I cannot find a drive to install it on? Like it has been happening, I will need to wipe the C: drive? I tried it last night before I disconnected my data drive and it found my data drive but not the C: drive.

Try wiping the C HD to see if it sees it then. If not is it seen in BIOS setup? Make sure SATA controller is set to AHCI.

Next create and format an NTFS Primary partition marked Active using Step 2.2 in SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation.

Notebook HD is seen in BIOS. I went into boot order and saw Notebook HD as an option to move up or down.

SATA controller settings if there should be nearby the HD and storage listings.

If you have two installed HD's then they should both be listed under HD's or Storage, where you should be able to set one as Primary to show up in BIOS Boot order.

Then set Notebook HD first to boot in BIOS setup, then trigger the DVD or Flash stick to boot using the F9 one-time BIOS boot menu key at boot.

How are you disabling the data drive during install - in BIOS setup? If so make sure the remaining HD is set Primary and first to boot. If possible physically remove the other HD and all other peripherals.

If it shows up in BIOS then it should show up on the installer drives screen. If not wipe it and format an Active partition to give it every advantage of being seen.

If that fails I'd boot the HD maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan to test the HD, followed by a full Disk Check from installer Command Line.

There is no SATA listings.

I disconnected the data drive physically.

Should I do a "clean all" from diskpart?

Also, I was ale to do a minimal system recovery from f11. Is there any benefit of a clean install over this? I tried doing the minimal recovery thursday but was not able to complete d/t a BSOD. So I guess this is progress.

Thanks for your time and assistance.

Clean All is fine but that's not Diskpart Clean Command advised about six times now.

I also advised earlier to look for a newer BIOS update and reset the BIOS to defaults.

Minimal recovery as I write in the Clean Reinstall tutorial is comparable, but in your case something is corrupting operations across the HD. To get the cleanest slate to confirm that it's not software interfering you should clean the disk. If it then perists you need to look at hardware with the HD Diagnostics and memtest from Troubleshooting Win7 .

I guess I don't understand the difference between "clean all" and a "wipe".

I've checked the intel site and no updates were avail for BIOS.

BIOS has been reset to default in f10 at the startup screen.

I've also reun memtest and diagnostics with no problems found.

iaStor.sys BSOD
I've been getting repeated BSODs related to iaStor recently. So far I have downloaded Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyWare, and TDSSKiller and none of them have turned up any malware, so a rootkit can presumably be ruled out. I did the scans both in and out of safe mode. I've also reinstalled the driver...
