Windows 7: BSOD 116 while gaming

I have done that but I'm going to do it again just to be thorough. As I posted earlier, this is a brand new 580gtx from an RMA that BSOD 116 after an hour of being put in. The 560 I had in here while the card was shipping started doing this as well so I'm pretty sure this is some conflict but I just can't run it down.

The temps on the GPU's are fine. I just keep getting that nvlddmkm.sys timeout failure. Any clues?

Are both the cards inserted?
If yes, keep the one you are not using out.

Do the steps as mentioned in my previous post and report back.

Try these steps to install only the graphics driver.

1.Download the preferred driver and save it to the desktop.
2.Double click the installer and you will see a screen where it will be extracted to, change that to your desktop.
3.Open Device Manager through Control Panel.
4.Expand Display adapters and right click the name for yours and choose Update Driver\Browse my Computer. Select the driver folder you just saved on the desktop. Click Next.
5. Your system should say "Windows has successfully updated your driver software".

If you get a window saying you already have the most current driver, go back to step 4 and choose Uninstall Driver software instead. Then restart from step 3.

Koolkat,

Before I posted here I did try some of those things. I used driver sweeper to completely remove the Asus driver, reinstalled the Realtek driver and updated it. I uninstalled Avast and installed MSE.

I also reinstalled the graphics drivers just like you posted but I did go ahead and reinstall them again last night. I uninstalled everything from the program/features list, rebooted into safe mode, ran driver force and removed everything listed under Nvidia driver, rebooted, with Windows 7 driver install/update disabled, then reinstalled the 306.23 drivers. When I went to install it, it said that nothing was installed so I'm assuming I completely cleaned it out.

I also doubled checked as I downloaded the chipset driver from EVGA's site and I did installed the latest one before posting here.

I do not have both cards inserted. I was only using the one while the other was being RMA'ed. I decided to go ahead and run another memtest last night to be thorough. It ran for 7-8 hours, no errors.

So did you have any blue screens after making these changes?

Yes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the graphic drivers 4-5 times and I still crashed last night but I have not tested it since I did it again before I went to bed and then ran the memtest. I don't really blue screen though. The screen goes black, keyboard locks up and I have to do a hard reboot. When I log in I get the crash dmp message. But I'm going to test it out again here shortly and I'll let you know how it does. Thanks for the help.
