Try turning off hibernate as instructed here. That's the only possible element I could see even remotely capable of producing the systems incurred. If that doesn't help, keep pounding at ASUS' door till they cave in for a full system replacement. There's really nothing you can do about reliably reproducing the symptoms if it's some internal hardware failure. Hardware failure at a lower level (as in components crucial to all usage like PSU or motherboard) is nearly always discerned by erratic, compulsive behavior that's seemingly untraceable. There's nothing that you as a consumer can do outside of buying testing kits and whatnot to figure this out - that's their job, which most OEMs do poorly at (they typically just shove it in an oven for a bit and run standard diag tests afterwards). You'll just need to nag them enough to where they will have no other option than a full replacement.
