    BSOD-Seems Random

    Hey all,

I really appreciate the time you guys dedicate to help total strangers. Thanks..

A couple weeks ago I started having massive issues with my pc so I reformed and re-installed Windows 7. It seems I am starting to have issues again. I am getting the bsod with the irq equals to etc..cannot remember the exact error now but I have everything dumped for you guys.

The last error was today when I was running a virus scan... I will be forever in your debt if you can help me sort this. I am a web developer/seo/designer and I rely on my computer to make a living. These issues are causing me headaches and costing me money in lost work. With that said again I thank you guys for helping me..

I downloaded your utility and ran the dumps and placed them in a zip file. If you need anything else just let me know..

    Thanks,
    Rich

I have an i7 860 which is not overclocked at the moment..
I have 8 gigs of ram and I did run a memory test already with no issues.
I also ran scan disk and check disk..

    Welcome

Hang in there while we'll try to get this problem solved!

    Problematic software:
    Code:
    Start Menu\Programs\Bitdefender 2013	Public:Start Menu\Programs\Bitdefender 2013	Public
    Start Menu\Programs\SUPERAntiSpyware	Public:Start Menu\Programs\SUPERAntiSpyware	Public
I'd suggest you uninstall BitDefender (causes blue screens on some machines)
    and Superantispyware as well.

For now and just keep MSE and Malware Bytes. They are a great combination.

    3. Boot into Safe Mode from Advanced Boot Options:

    4. Type in Driver Fusion in Search
    5. Remove all components of your ATI drivers
    6. Boot normally now, and install the latest drivers from the
      auto-detect program you downloaded.

Now you have the latest drivers installed for your
    graphic card.

Now run the System File Checker for repairing any damaged windows files.

    wow!! You guys are awesome!!

Regarding Bitdefender.. This is something I recently installed and I was having these issues before. Ofcourseit still could be contributing. I was searching for a free or inexpensive anti virus scanner that works with Thunderbird..

I actually used Microsoft Security Essentials for a long time until it let a few things through. This is when I stopped. Do you have any other reccomendations for an antivirus scanner/etc?

Thanks again! I will try all of this out and will post when finished. I am really amazed at this post though. Many times when posting in forums people will give a really general answer. I end up pulling my hair out trying to put together the details.. lol You have supplied everything! Links and all..what a lifesaver!!

    Thanks for the help.

I ended up having to replace all the chipset, controller and gpu drivers. I believe the issue was beiong caused by the chipset or controller drivers. I had installed the latest ATI(now Amd) graphics card drivers recently when I re-installed Win7. I had downloaded the latest version of the Catalyst suite from the ATI site but I think I may have missed the drivers associated with the motherboard which is the P55USB 3 from Gigabyte. I had used the install cd and the update software which was telling me everything was up to date when it wasn't..

I had been using the Super Anti Spyware for at least a year and have never had an issue though it has seemed to have a larger memory impact recently. I do not think it was the cause though.

Finally, I would love to hear your opinions on some anti virus software that works well with Thunderbird. I am a web developer/master/designer, seo and I also own many websites so I get many, many emails every day though many various accounts using multiple email profiles. Email is my largest security concern and even though I love Microsoft Security Essentials it just does not cut it when it comes to large amounts of email. I use it fine on my other personal pc's and my laptop. I just cannot use it on my dev pc.

I used AVG for a long time but they no longer support Mozilla Thunderbird. I would like to stick with free if possible because I already spend enough on software but would consider a reasonably priced program if you cannot think of anything free. I would put high value on your opinion.

Thanks again for the help. I have not received such detailed help before even when going to Microsoft directly. They usually just point you to another page or an article.

    Cheers,
    Rich

    Hi there,

For email security I'd recommend the free version Avast! antivirus. It has a mail shield for the Thunderbird email client. For details check this link: avast! Free Antivirus | Download Antivirus Protection Software

Go through this link for how to configure Avast the mail server in both Avast! and Thunderbird: [SOLVED] Thunderbird mail and Avast! mail shield (Read 465 times) and a video tutorial here

Let me know if these are of help to you. :)

    Btw, have the BSoDs stopped?

Actually I have tried Avast but it really does not work well for my email. I have almost 40 different email accounts and it is a hassle having to set up each one with avast. And then when set up I still have issues with emails not being marked as scanned, etc. I am using it though for now because I just have not had time to do more research.

As for the bluescreen thing, everything seemed to be going well and then one day I could not reboot into windows. I tried everything and then started getting errors saying the system drive was going. I could not even do an over install because windows said the drive was bad..

So not I am in need of help again but I am not sure if you guys can help. I have windowsd running fine on another drive now but I did not have a chance to back up my email on tyhe other drive. I can still access data and I need to grab my thunderbird data from the drive before it goes. Normally I use Mozbackup but I cannot use this because I cannot log into that copy of windows.

Right nopw I am trying to copy data from the profile folder but I do not know if this will work. Will this work and if not is there any other way I can get my email?

Thank you guys for all of the help..

    Rich

Since you've made changes to your environment you'll want to update any new crashdumps for us. Best to turn on Driver Verifier, let it crash the system a couple times, then upload all your crashdumps including latest.
