BSOD playing Borderlands 1&2 Hello everyone,
I recently (2/3 months ago) got a new PC and all was fine until just over a month ago when I had a BSOD whilst playing Borderlands 1. I can't remember exactly, but I was probably running Mumble (as well as Logitech G15 software and all the AlienwareFX and thermal software etc.)
Well today I had a BSOD after playing Borderlands 2 for about 5 minutes (previously having played for 18 so far). Also running Skype, Chrome and the background stuff I mentioned before.
I'm updating my drivers now, but I would appreciate it if someone could have a look at my logs just to make sure that it isn't anything too catastrophic
EDIT:
I'd just like to add that while I am using a beta graphics driver now, I wasn't at the time of the first BSOD.
Thanks again,
Seb

Welcome aboard.
The dump you uploaded indicates Stop 0x116. I would suggest you to follow the steps stated in STOP 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR troubleshooting.

Hello again,
I followed most of the steps in that guide (except resetting my pagefile, forgot about that one) a few weeks ago and had no problems for a while, even while playing a fair bit of Team Fortress 2 and Garry's Mod 13 (beta).
Unfortunately today I had two more Stop 0x116 errors whilst playing Tekkit (minecraft mod) on fairly high settings. I played it for about 5 hours yesterday without a problem, but today had two crashes both within 5 minutes of starting the game.
I think I was on the 301.13 whql nvidia video driver at the time of the first crash, and by the second I had updated to the latest 306.97 whql driver.
Anyway, I've attached both of the minidumps and what the SF diagnostic tool grabbed. Maybe (since it is a really new PC) I should just get it sent back for the graphics card to be replaced?
Thanks again. Try to uninstall and reinstall nvidai driver. - Download and install Driver Fusion.
- Reboot the computer in Advanced Boot Options, safe mode. Search Driver Fusion in your start menu, and remove all components of your nVidia display driver.
- Boot normally now. Go to Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers, follow option two to search for the appropriate driver for your system automatically, and install it.
Also, use Speccy and monitor system heat, including the card.
Let us know the result. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Self Assembled OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit SP 1 CPU Intel Core i3 2120 @ 3.30GHz Motherboard Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. I have used Driver Fusion, but it seems that even after I hit delete on all of the nvidia display items, there are still some left (see attachment). I don't know whether they have any significance, but I'm going to continue with installing the driver anyway. I'll go back and do it again if you deem it necessary, though. Attachment 237607
EDIT: Played more Tekkit without any problems (slight lag after an hour of playing...), and my GPU temp was steady around 51 degrees, CPU temp 49.

Apparently it is a good news.
Update the situation again, if needed. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Self Assembled OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit SP 1 CPU Intel Core i3 2120 @ 3.30GHz Motherboard Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. No blue screens to report, however I have been getting lots of game freezes (in Tekkit and Skyrim. Tekkit ones are all within 5 mins of starting though, whereas in Skyrim I played for a few hours before freezes). It let me ctrl+alt+del my way out, so it's not all bad. Just a nuisance. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Alienware Aurora R4 OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU i7-3820 @ 3.60GHz Memory 8GB Graphics Card Nvidia GTX680 Monitor(s) Displays 24", 20" Screen Resolution 1920x1280, 1600x900 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Alienware Standard Mouse Case Alienware Aurora R4 Case Cooling Liquid CPU only Hard Drives 1TB Internet Speed ~300kb/s |

How old the graphics card is?
And how dense games settings you are using? | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Self Assembled OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit SP 1 CPU Intel Core i3 2120 @ 3.30GHz Motherboard Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. I have a GTX680. They came out this year and are pretty close to the top of the range. Should easily be able to handle anything thrown at it, but even so I lowered the settings on Tekkit to like half and still had issues. Skyrim I was playing on full max settings however. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Alienware Aurora R4 OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU i7-3820 @ 3.60GHz Memory 8GB Graphics Card Nvidia GTX680 Monitor(s) Displays 24", 20" Screen Resolution 1920x1280, 1600x900 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Alienware Standard Mouse Case Alienware Aurora R4 Case Cooling Liquid CPU only Hard Drives 1TB Internet Speed ~300kb/s |

You try reducing the texture settings etc to normal or lower ... it may reduce the issue. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Self Assembled OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit SP 1 CPU Intel Core i3 2120 @ 3.30GHz Motherboard Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
