BSOD: Worker thread returned at bad irql

    Hi,

I am really thankful for this website, very useful and good resource.

From yesterday I have been facing the blue screen of death with error worker thread returned at bad Irql. I am using windows 7 home premium, 64-bit. It's very annoying, my laptop gets restarted like 4-6 times a day. I am uploading the dumps. Can you please take a look and provide a best solution.

    Your help is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Nikhil.

Please uninstall McAfee. Its a known cause to BSODs.
    McAfee Removal Tool

I and many members on our forum recommend Microsoft security essentials with
a great combination of Malware Bytes.

Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows
    Malwarebytes - The Free version
Good and Free system security combination.

Run a full scan with both (separately) once downloaded, installed and updated.

In addition, Run this tool and delete anything it finds:
    Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller

Run the system file checker, reboot each time (if it finds integrity violations)
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Run disk check to check a selected hard disk for file system errors and bad sectors on it
    Disk Check

Do these and report back. We'll do more troubleshooting if needed.

    Dear Koolkat,
Thank you for your advice. I am having similar problems as well. Although I did not yet follow these steps, the steps you listed also help remove McAfee antivirus and also, I will complete all your steps in a week and let you know about the results.
Also, strangely the BSODs occur giving the same reason when I am about to download files using bittorrent or mu-torrent.
I haven't tried other torrent clients yet.

    Please advise

I'm 100% sure that uninstalling McAfee will solve the problems you're having while downloading torrents.

Anurag, as per Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions, you should start your new thread, other than posting your problem in others thread.
