Windows 7: Random BSOD's and Freezes

Random BSOD's and Freezes

I switched my system over to Windows 7 64 from Vista earlier this year. Under Vista, the system was rock solid stable excluding the occasional program crashes. Since clean install of Windows 7 it's been a nightmare.

I have looked through the Windbg analysis but it seems to change from crash to crash and I am not experienced in debugging.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I see that you already have Microsoft Security Essentials and MBAM which is good enough.

I and many members on our forum recommend Microsoft security essentials with
a great combination of Malware Bytes.

Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows
Malwarebytes - The Free version
Good and Free system security combination.

Run a full scan with both (separately) and in addition run this tool and delete anything it finds:
Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller

Daemon tools is a known cause to blue screens, please uninstall it as well

Run the system file checker, let it repair any damaged files within windows
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Run disk check to check a selected hard disk for file system errors and bad sectors on it
Disk Check

Free up your start up following the tutorial below. Nothing except your antivirus is required there.
Startup Programs - Change

Do these and let us know. We'll do more troubleshooting if needed.

Thanks for the quick replies. I'll be working through the suggestions. Just a few moments ago I uninstalled Daemon Tools, and ran the uninstaller for STPD but it came up as "not found or installed".

If I uninstall Comodo what should I use as firewall - should I just use the built in Windows firewall?

Thanks
