Sorry TK if I had it in my hot little hands I could fix it. It is either the thermal paste on the CPU that has dried out and cracked (not likely but possible) but more likely the cooling fins are clogged.
The air is drawn up into the machine from below - see the round hole with the fan blades inside? It then pumps that air out through the side of the machine through copper fins that are in contact with the cooling pipes that run from the copper pad that sits on top of the CPU and graphics chips (processors) that collects the heat generated by the CPU and graphics chips working. .
The heat is then dissipated to the outside - a bit like a car radiator does it.
Now after some time the dust and fluff like cat hair for example can build up and block of those cooling fins and hence the loss of cooling > CPU gets hotter > internal thermal cutout prevents real damage to the CPU and graphic chips by shutting the machine down.

Hello TurboKitten225. this sounds very much like you did get a drive-by malware of some sort due to the fact that anything that would let you erase it won't work. Some are quite tenacious in trying to survive removal.

I'd suggest you find another PC and download the 32bit version for your OS What is Windows Defender Offline? and make a bootable CD or USB stick. This is a scanner that will run before w7 starts and we've had good luck at disinfections with it.
The only other option I see is a clean install by downloading a w7 installer.

Hiyya TK I did ask my mate Gary as you can see and have a go at that because it seems it could be caused by the malware Gary has mentioned and maybe a hardware problem .

But Gary's probably got a better idea than me. Sorry I didn't get back last night my credit ran out on the portable wireless device.

So just hang off the repair shop until we have exhausted all eventualities cos the techies are so expensive.

Oh for that gadget!! and being able to hook it up to that Vista but is there any chance you can borrow a machine and do that. If you lived next door I have a stack of them here to use .

I have 64 bit windows. I don't know why I put 32bit... My bad.

I suppose like Gary has aid a reinstall would be the go. Now have you got any installation disk or can you get hold of another machine download the ISO - put in a new drive and install onto it and use the activation code from the sticker on the machine?

You will of course need a machine to make an ISO with and well new drives are not that expensive now. If you are worried about changing the drive if there is someway you can post a shot of the underside of the machine I can tell you how to do that.

It is usually just a matter of removing the power supplies (cable and battery) undoing a couple of screws opening the small door / lid and gently sliding out the drive. Now you will need to put the new drive into that small carrier by undoing the screws at the sides then put the new one in screw it up and slide the new drive back in and refix the lid down.

Then set the BIOS to boot from whatever you put the ISO on and install.

Sounds really hard but truly it is easy.

The ISO I don't know if I am allowed to post here so PM me.

Once in you can at leisure then get your data you need back onto the drive if you have some way of retrieving it.

Hum I have just had a look at the thing being done and well it is a whole lot different to other stuff I have fixed seems the whole bottom had to come off - so unless you can follow this Yuoube vis well looks like the techs are going to make a killing.

Please try WDO once more TK, the first time I ran it, it took over two hours to complete. In that instance it took care of my PC. It ain't the fastest thing in the tool box, but is generally thorough.

Yes agree Gary that option of mine looks a bit too complicated the Toshiba's for what they are worth are at least easy to work on.
