Then, download the PW boot cd, and upload the camera snap.

I burned the .exe to a cd and tossed into my laptop. Same issue when using the cd/dvd drive. Blue screen after windows logo.

Remember I'm using a mac to burn these, so I may have had to run the executable and then burn the files. This step may have been missed since I'm on a mac.

No.. no ... no exe. Get the bootable CD, 42.6 MB. Get it from Free download Magic Partition Manager Software, partition magic alternative, free partition magic, partition magic Windows 7 and server partition software - Partition Wizard Online, it is listed separately, at the bottom.

Then get Imgburn, Burn the iso following the screenshots:
Step 1:
Attachment 235482

Step 2:
Attachment 235483

Then boot into that disc, and post a camera snap of the disc listings for us.

I figured out the iso issue. I made a noob mistake (oops!) I hope that's the pic you were looking for.

yes that is the picture. it says that there are two discs, and the listings thereto.

you first backup any data that is stored in disc1. use the tutorial on copy paste in recovert console.

then follow the tutorial on clean install. format disc1. make custom partitions there as per your need. when the installer will ask to make another partition, accept it.

just make it sure that you are not making more than three (must) paetitions there. otherwise the disc will become dynamic and unusable.

if you have more questions, ask us.

Thanks for the help arc!

I used peppermintos 3 to get most of files. I was able to back up most of it with the .wim archives using what functionality was left of the hp recovery system. I'll re-read everything you recommended and then reinstall. Thanks again, much appreciated.
