    BSOD from ntoskrnl.exe

Hello. I found this forum while trying to search for a solution to my issue, but I have yet to have any real succes with it. My computer is pretty new, less than a month old. It was build by a friend of mine, but unfortunately, he hasn't been able to offer a solution to the problem either.

I am getting BSODs. They happen at pretty irregular intervals. Here are some of the situations where it happens:

Most frequent: When livestreaming a game. I'll run Xsplit and the game at the same time, and Chrome to view the chat of my livestream. This will almost guarantee a crash at some point, but it happens at irregular intervals.

Somewhat frequent: Rendering videos in Sony Vegas while uploading a video to Youtube. I don't know why these two processes seem to hate each other, but I find that if I do these things at the same time, there is a fair chance of a crash.

Pretty unfrequent: One crash while just playing a game. Another just as I hit save on a project in Sony Vegas.

What I have manged to find out:

Using Blue Screen Viewer, I can see that the crashes usually revolve around ntoskrnl.exe. I've tried repairing my Windows installation, and as far as I can tell, my drivers are up to date. However, sometimes it is not just the kernel exe giving me issues. Sometimes it is both the .exe, but also a .sys file marked in red in BSV. The files that are sometimes reported with the exe are: Rt64win7.sys, ndis.sys, dxgmms1.sys, nvlddmkm.sys, tcpip.sys and kbdclass.sys. More often than not, it's just the kernel file showing up.

BSV gives me a bunch of very different bug check codes:

    0xa
    0x1e
    0xd1
    0x50
    0x3b
    0x7f

I have no idea what these mean.

I have attached the zip file from your test tool to this post. I hope you can point me in the right direction as to how I can fix this. This is supposed to be a pretty powerful computer, and I am all too worried that these issues will get worse until my computer either blows up or flies out of the window.

    Welcome aboard.

You need to update your nvidia display driver to the latest one. the installed one is of May, 2012.
    Code:
    fffff880`06ef98a8 fffff880`130f4751Unable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\nvlddmkm.sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for nvlddmkm.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for nvlddmkm.sys
     nvlddmkm+0xd9751
    Also, Free up the startup.

    1. Click on the Start button
    2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
    3. Select the “Startup” tab.
    4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
    5. Apply > OK
    6. Accept the restart.

    And uninstall ASRock Utilities.

    Let us know the results.

Alright, thank you for these tips so far. I have gotten the latest NVidia Driver as of 13th of September and I've gotten rid of the ASrock stuff. It came with the hardware, so I figured I would try it out.

I have also freed up the startup, but I wonder if you could explain to me why I do this? The crashes can come at completely random times, or maybe not at all. Is it to eliminate any issues that these programs might be causing, so I only have what I need running?

Anyways, I have done as you have asked because, well, you know better. I will try and do some livestreaming tomorrow, because that is a sure way of causing a crash.

Did you get a chance to look at some of the other reports? Is there anything else I can do already to prevent any further crashes?

I thank you for your help :)

Qieth, I have seen your dumps. Almost all of them indicated the display driver failure, and nothing more in particular. So I suggested you to update it.

About ASRock utilities, it is just a bundled junk, and causes various problems. So I suggested to uninstall it, though it is not any direct cause of your issue. But, precaution is better.

If there are much more startup items, much more programs are running in the background. It not only makes the PC slow but also causes conflicts and crashes are sometimes the results of those conflicts.

That is why I asked the three to you.

Hey guys, a little update for you. I tried livestreaming the other day, doing what I used to do that would cause a BSOD, and while it wasn't the worlds heaviest game, I had no issues streaming non-stop for over two hours. I'll test with some bigger game during the weekend, but so far, I can say:

    No bluescreens! :)

I'm back now - sadly, I have had another crash. This one happened while I was rendering in Sony Vegas, while also uploading a video to Youtube.

I have run the Diagnostics tool once more. There is only one new dump file, from today, 12th of October (I live in Denmark, so thats why it's friday here already).

I really hope you have time to take another look.

    A real overload
Well, it indicates the Realtek Ethernet driver:
    Code:
    fffff800`04403378 fffff880`042ccb53Unable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\Rt64win7.sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for Rt64win7.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for Rt64win7.sys
     Rt64win7+0x19b53
    =======================================================================
     lmvm rt64win7
    start end module name
    fffff880`042b3000 fffff880`04328000 Rt64win7 T (no symbols)
        Loaded symbol image file: Rt64win7.sys
        Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\Rt64win7.sys
        Image name: Rt64win7.sys
        Timestamp: Thu Apr 21 23:45:33 2011 (4DB07445)
        CheckSum: 00076017
        ImageSize: 00075000
        Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4
The driver is somehow old. Update it from Realtek.

For the recurring nvidia error, you need to uninstall and reinstall the driver.
    Code:
    fffff800`044035e8 fffff880`1325526dUnable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\nvlddmkm.sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for nvlddmkm.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for nvlddmkm.sys
     nvlddmkm+0x23b26d
    • Download and install Driver Fusion.
    • Reboot the computer in Advanced Boot Options, safe mode. Search Driver Fusion in your start menu, and remove all components of your nVidia display driver.
    • Boot normally now. Go to Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers, follow option two to search for the appropriate driver for your system automatically, and install it.

Stress test your video card, too!

    Run TDSSKiller,too.

I have updated the Realtek driver - I took the fourth option called "Win7 and WinServer 2008 R2 Auto Installation Program (SID:1522305)".

I have removed and reinstalled my Nvidia driver - it was the same I had downloaded a few days ago. One small note, might not be important: When I went to remove the drivers in safe mode, there were three Nvidia posts. I went into all of them and removed the drivers, but some of them didn't appear to be removed. When I restarted, I couldn't force it into safe mode, but the screen sure looked like it didn't have any drivers, so I went ahead and installed them again.

I tried running the Furmark program but whenever I would check "Log GPU temp", the program stopped working.

I ran TDSSKiller without any problems, nothing showed up.
