BSOD on start-up after re-installation of 7 Home Premium.

Hi guys.

I recently built my own computer from New Egg. I know a guy that works at an IT company here in town and he said he had a Windows 7 Pro key he could give me. I had already installed Home Premium and did the automatic upgrade to Windows Pro. I kept getting error messages saying the version wasn't valid, even did the key verification over the phone and I still got the error, so I did a fresh install of my Windows Home Premium and I've been getting BSODs ever since.

I did have my processor overclocked before I did the re-install, and I read that that could be the cause, so I reset the CMOS. I thought that doing that had fixed for a couple of days, but it has continued BSODing just about everytime I turn the computer on. It will BSOD 1-2 times, and then be fine.

1. Disable USB Selective suspense.

2. Disable Search Index.

3. Reset windows update.

4. Uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

5. Disc Check on all your HDD's including externals.

1. Reseat the sata and power.
2. Run chkdsk /f/r, following the option two of the tutorial Disk Check
3. Seatool for dos: SeaTools | Seagate download
   Burn it in a blank cd. boot from the CD, click on "Accept", wait for it to finish detecting the drives, then in the upper left corner select "Basic Tests", then select "Long Test" and let it run.

6. Dont attach any external HDD during booting.
