Can you turn on Driver Verifier and let it crash some more? Thanks.

How do i fix this BSOD with various dump messages

Hi Vir Gnarus

I turned on driver verifier this morning and had about 9 or so crashes today. I noticed that when the computer was on and I was not doing any work per se it was not crashing but this evening (sydney time it crashed about 5 times), I wonder if it is my mouse that has an issue

Anyway latest dumps in zipped format attached

BTW, I have now turned off driver verifier. I had been on for about 12 hours

Driver Verifier does not appear to be on when looking at these crashdumps. Verify it's on by opening it up again and going to "Display existing settings". If it shows the checks are enabled and there's a list of drivers, then it should be on. Otherwise, it's not. Remember when you set it up to restart the PC immediately afterwards, otherwise all changes are lost.

Mate, I am pretty sure I followed the instructions properly. All the 18/10/2012 dumps should have been while the verifier was on - However as these instructions here says to stop verifier, I stopped it first before I created the dump files via sf diagnostic. Is that perhaps the reason you think the verifier was off

Using Driver Verifier to identify issues with Drivers

"""Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post."""

Any case I have just turned it on again and did the check you described and it is currently "on"

Thank you Vir Gnarus

That's strange. I mean, the crashdumps don't lie about whether it's on or not (since it's reporting if it was on during the crash, not when the crashdump was made), but it's rather peculiar that Verifier would not be active when these happened. I don't distrust you on this, but all I can say is give it one more go and see if we'll be luckier this time. Of course, make absolutely sure it decided to turn on after you restart the PC from setting it up using the aforementioned method with "Display existing settings". If it somehow shows up blank despite you follow the instructions to the letter, then we'll have to approach this some other way.

Just had 4 crashes. Dumps on its way, once I run them. Did you check all the latest dumps. I have been using Bluescreen view as well and can see some had driver verifier detected violations while others were like driver IRQL and some other faults

ok, I think I have found 1 reason for my crashes - but there might be many more

Whenever I go into Skype and start the webcam via options and video I am getting BSOD,

Now this could be 1 reason out of many that I might have but as there is doubt after my discussions with "ARC" here if my webcam is Window 7 compatible because it is about 3 years old, I probably will be removing all software by logitech and reinstall a fresh version. Once this is done, I will be testing to see if I get more BSOD, if I do time to invest in a new webcam

The other thing I noticed recently in between BSODs is that I am getting flash plug in crashing when watching youtube videos, and just recently I was on a microsoft page and had microsoft silverlight plug in crash on me. I also notice that google chrome and mozilla firefox also crash quite often

It might be as a result of wider problem that I might have with my computer but I thought I'd disclose in case it is linked to things you can see from within the dumps

Thank you Vir Gnarus (PS do tell me what else you see from dumps)

Oh well another BSOD but was not in Skype nor using webcam
Hmm, maybe I also have memory issues

SPECIAL_POOL_DETECTED_MEMORY_CORRUPTION

Can I ask if I can include a single dump file as attachment here, as i did the whole sf diagnostic again to get this latest BSOD in the zip file...

There are some bugchecks that report themselves as being from Driver Verifier despite DV actually being off. However now that doesn't seem to be the case here. It appears it's just a problem involving the lack of DV information that usually attaches itself to minidumps. Minidumps are just extremely finite and fickle in what data they decide to collect, which is why I often don't like dealing with em, but in some cases they are a necessary evil.

Yes, now that we have what appears to be a very consistent pattern dealing with your Logitech webcam drivers, it's evident you'll want to do something with it. The flash and silverlight would also be affected because they can implement usage of your webcam. Try dealing with that before we proceed.

Also, I'm not sure what you mean by your request of attaching a single dump file. You can, but make sure you archive it first as it may be rejected otherwise.

Hi Vir Gnarus. well all my later dumps dated 18 & 19 October have happened when the driver verifier is on

I have uninstalled all logitech software, then renistalled from the link that logitech australia customer support had sent me to upload software, and then tested it as follows

Went into skype, options and video setting and webcamera and boom bsod, I then downloaded yahoo messenger and the same thing happened as well

I also have run 3DMark03 and it also resulted in a BSOD towards the end I think because of ntoskrnl.exe according to my reading of the dump file checked with bluescreenView

Other comments, I have kept the computer on overnight till the morning and it seems to have crashed and restarted about once an hour so I am not sure why it would crash while no webcam is being used. i switched it off in the morning before going to work

What I meant by single dump file attaching is that I have sometimes done the SF diagnostic and then attached a zipped file of the dumps and then I get another bsod a minute or two later, so I can perhaps just attach that latest dump file by itself rather than having to restart and redo the entire SF diagnostic way of attaching the zipped file for the sake of that last mini dump

Here is the latest dumps zipped. Shall look at new Window 7 Webcam over weekend, or maybe I borrow from friend to test first

Thank you
