Whoops...
I guess CCleaner has been cleaning the CBS log :P
So I've added it to the exclude list. But I've attached what is already there, it dates back to only today.

Sorry

Already done the Update Readiness tool, read my above posts plz.
Also, just making clear, this is NOT my original Windows 7 rig, sorry (that's busted ATM). So I'm currently using and having problems with THIS Windows Vista SP0. It's a Dell Inspiron 530. Read above posts for everything Koolkat helped me check, like BIOS and drivers.

Thanks. I know that this is SEVENForums, but still :P

Look, I don't have time for this - I have about 3 weeks of my Maths degree to catch up on, and a very large piece of work in for 11am tomorrow. I'm asking for things for a reason, if I didn't have a reason, I wouldn't ask for them.

The SURT isn't great at fixing things itself, which is why I want the log. It is found in the CBS folder, along with the CBS log. I wanted both as they are very informative with these sort of problems. I asked for the folder because it would zip up both.

I wanted the SURT ran again because I didn't know what you'd done since you last ran it and it would be a really bad idea to work from a log that isn't reflective of the current state of your system.

I have already read this whole thread, including downloading all attachments - the info I want isn't anywhere to be found, so I asked for it.

Just out of curiosity, what did you use to to zip up those files? The contents don't play nicely with Windows Explorer so I had to use 7zip to get to them. It might be a problem at my end, but I doubt it was Anthony is reporting errors as well. This is happening with all of your attachments.

Your CheckSUR log(s) are showing no errors which is a shame as they're the easiest to fix! Your CBS doesn't show any errors either which is very odd. Let's go for a SFC:

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

What error code do you get when you try to install SP1? Also, I would like to see a MGADiag log - for info, see these instructions:

First, I used 7-Zip with LZMA. Default is Deflate, but I find that with most files, LZMA compresses it better.
And I'm used to using LZMA2 with 7z files, too.
But I've been using these settings to zip files up for a while with some other problems on this site, and Anthony and your's are the first complaints :P

I have also recently done an SFC, and the only thing that it brought up was that I replaced the Vista calc.exe and calc.exe.mui files with the Windows 7 version :P
I expect that it will find the same errors this time around

Oh, I don't exactly remember, but on the Microsoft Support website for the code, it told me to use the SERT, which I did, but it didn't help :P

I've attached the whole CBS.txt and the SFC details that you get by following step 3 from SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker.

Thanks!

Just got another BSOD

1. Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown message

Code:
Problem details:
Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name:	BlueScreen
  OS Version:	6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.2
  Locale ID:	1033

Additional information about the problem:
  BCCode:	1000008e
  BCP1:	C0000005
  BCP2:	91660B82
  BCP3:	B0B87AE0
  BCP4:	00000000
  OS Version:	6_0_6000
  Service Pack:	0_0
  Product:	768_1

Files that help describe the problem:
  C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini101812-01.dmp
  C:\Users\Trolldad\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-123973-0.sysdata.xml
  C:\Users\Trolldad\AppData\Local\Temp\WER2E9E.tmp.version.txt
2. Files that help describe the problem from #1 are attached.
Strangely, only the first Minidump file is there, any the other 2 files are not in the Temp folder. They were there in my first 2 BSODs. (The first Minidump file is in the Mini101812-01.zip file)

3. SFC Diagnostic Tool results are attached.

Oh, and if this helps in any way, I have hooked up my PC to a Phillips TV via VGA. Model # is 40PFL4707/F7.
I've been having some problems with it too, because I have previously used it with a Dell monitor it was shipped with.
My problem is that when it is hooked up to the TV, the computer sometimes doesn't boot. The BIOS (with the gigantic Dell logo) doesn't show, and although there is a blue hard drive activity light underneath the PC's power button, that doesn't light up at ALL when the PC refuses to boot. However, it sometimes DOES boot.
When it DOESN'T boot, I force shut it down (I don't need to hold down the button, just tap it) and swap the VGA from my TV to my original monitor, and it works PERFECTLY. EVERY TIME.

Don't know why :P
