    Have I killed my laptop?

Hum I think I might have posted in the wrong spot so.....

I think I just killed my lappy I cleaned it all up even tried a a better i5 in in but power on and the opto clunks clunks and the fan runs slow for a bit then races up to fast then stops altogether.
So thinking it might be just the new core being a dud stuck the original one back in - same result so don't know where to start even looking?

There is no screen at all and I have checked and rechecked now several times carefully following the dissemble info

    Any ideas anyone please?

Do you have any parts left over - LOL.

But seriously, you must have forgotten to properly connect something.

Sounds like you might have bent a pin on the cpu when you re-installed it. Or you might have not re-connected a jumper or wire lead. I would make sure that everything is well connected. cpu is my guess.

Thanks WHS and Rich ok I'll go back over it again tomorrow I am not sure about the bent pin as both cores would not work but I'll check. Hum funny you should mention spare parts I did the previous A200 dissemble and made up a system where I could not have any left over so on that score I don't think there is a problem.

I did break a top plate stand off that was attached to a aluminum shield under the the top plate but have repaired it and made an earthing strap for it so it is still grounded to the mobo as was new. This shield is actually acting as a ground for the touchpad and left / right click buttons. It is the lack of any flicker on the screen that has me concerned.

The only other thing is it is trying to boot from the CD drive when I know i have it set to bot from the Crucial M4

But I have to give it away for today as doing it now I shall make mistakes - just too bushed. Will keep you informed .

    Thanks again
