BSOD, after system recovery

Hi, I recovered my notebook just yesterday and then incurred two BSODs, followed by one BSOD today. I don't know if Comodo firewall is responsible for this but it's meant to be one of the very best firewalls. I noticed that windows updater got stuck on some of the updates yesterday and I had to force shutdown. I eventually managed to install all windows updates but perhaps something went wrong in the process? This was before I installed comodo firewall. If you could advise me as to what the problem is and how to fix it, I'd be very grateful. Thanks.

► Well, first of all, you need to install service pack 1, and all the other updates.

► Free up the startup.

1. Click on the Start button
2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
3. Select the “Startup” tab.
4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
5. Apply > OK
6. Accept the restart.

I would Suggest you to uninstall them all -

• Comodo Internet Security.
• Comodo Firewall.
• Comodo Gragon
• McAfee.

Use Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows, with windows inbuilt firewall and free MBAM as on demand scanner.

Hi Arc, thanks for the help. I've freed up the start up, as you suggested but could you or someone else clarify the other points for me please?

When you say to install service pack 1, do you mean that you can see that I haven't? It's just that I checked for windows updates in the start menu yesterday and it found about 180 updates and installed them. None of them were called service pack 1, they were either called Update for Windows 7, or Security update for Windows 7.

When you say Clean Up Factory Bloatware, do you mean that I should simply delete them, or use a tool of some kind?

When you say update the drivers, do you mean that I need newer versions than the versions on my system, or that I need to reinstall the versions that I already have?

Regarding Comodo firewall and McAfee, I'll leave those until last, just incase the other things fix the problem. This computer came with free McAfee, so you'd think that it would be fully compatible with this system. I guess it doesn't always work like that though? Thanks again.

What you will do at first is to uninstall McAfee.

Then the other things will be thought.

McAfee came preinstalled, that is not for any compatibility reason, that is just as a bait that if you subscribe for it. And it is the worst program ever coded in human civilization.

After uninstalling McAfee and Comodo, think the rest.

Ask anybody in SevenForums, what they think about McAfee. You will get much more Harsh responses.

And, as Comodo is the direct cause of the crashes, keeping it intact.... tell me, is it possible for me to help you?

Thanks for posting the two zip files. That made it easy for Arc to analyze the issue(s) on your PC.

I was going to see if I could add anything, but Arc has already done the heavy lifting.

He's suggested a course of action and explained it very well. He took the time not only to analyze the issue, but to lay out the steps to correct it in very good detail.

Most of your questions would be answered if you took a look at the links. If the problem is Comodo and McAfee (the data supports Arc) and you chose not to uninstall them, that is your choice. If you want help fixing the issues on your PC, follow Arc's advice.

That shows you don't have SP1, it would be 7601.xxxxx if you did.
We refer to your AV software as MuckAfee due to its incompatibility with w7. AVG can also cause issues.

Just a note:
Atheros - Qualcomm brand. I tend to use mfr sites, when I can find them. I had to find Atheros when HP didn't offer a driver that solved my connectivity issues on an older Vista machine.
