Hello webgal318.
Your crashes are caused by avast antivirus.

Uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download and install those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.
Intel graphics driver is also failing.

Get rid of intel rapid storage.
- Right click on "my computer" icon and click "manage" on the context menu.
- It will open the "computer management" window.
- Select "Device Manager" in the left pane, It will list all the existing devices up.
- Expand "Disc Drives" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
- Select one item under it, right click, uninstall.
- Continue the process for all items under "Disc Drives"
- Now restart the computer. At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate system driver, msahci.sys.
As antivirus failed, Scan the system for possible virus infection.
Free up the startup.
- Click on the Start button
- Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
- Select the “Startup” tab.
- Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
- Apply > OK
- Accept the restart.
Finally, if possible, plan to update the BIOS, but if you even want to do it, ask us for assistance.
Let us know the results.Code:BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. 5.43, 9/10/2009
Hi
I uninstalled AVAST
Installed Microsoft Security Essentials-->full scan-->clean
Installed Malaware Bytes --> full scan--> clean
Searched for and could not find updated graphics driver
Scanned for rootkit--> none found
Burned 32 bit version Windows Defender offline tool--> did not use
Eliminated most startup programs (msconfig) (I did not know it is OK to deselect all until today) Antivirus enabled at startup
RE: BIOS update: Where do I find the latest version.
I use Speccy for PC profile: How do you like it? Is there something better?
Thanks for all your good advice
Ok, you have done a lot, and confessed what you have not done :) Nice.
First let us know if it crashing anymore or not. Apparently it should not, as Avast was the main reason. But if it crashes again (due to graphics), upload the dumps again.
I also use speccy, very nice and handy. But some geeks like HWiNFO.
I just got the BSOD when I started the machine this morning.
See attached.
Hmm .... avast is still there.
Code:abc47a50 8fd65fa8Unable to load image \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\aswSnx.SYS, Win32 error 0n2 *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for aswSnx.SYS *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for aswSnx.SYS aswSnx+0x22fa8The latest dump that I am seeing is of 28/11/2012, 9:35 AM. Is it the right one? As per the MSINFO32, avast is not there.Code:abc479d4 900b87bfUnable to load image \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\aswSP.SYS, Win32 error 0n2 *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for aswSP.SYS *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for aswSP.SYS aswSP+0x247bf
Let me know.
I am sending you the latest dump file. It was created a few minutes ago.
As an added note, I received another BSOD while the SFC was grabbing the information.
Here are the details that I copied/pasted:

Thanks again
Do some disc checks.
- Update your SSD's Firmware (skip it, if it is not a SSD)
- Re-seat the sata and power.
- Run chkdsk /f/r, following the option two of the tutorial Disk Check
- Seatool for dos: SeaTools | Seagate download
Burn it in a blank cd. boot from the CD, click on "Accept", wait for it to finish detecting the drives, then in the upper left corner select "Basic Tests", then select "Long Test" and let it run.
Scan again for virus.
Disc Defrag.
- Start > All programs> Accessories> System Tools > Disc Defragment.
Let us know the results. Also, if the MBAM (Pro version I guess) is not the latest version, Upgrade it.
It it does not work, we are to take a different root.
I have done the following
Ran disk check (very long time running) but finished and PC rebooted normally
- Reseated the SATA power
- Reseated the SATA connection
- Reseated all four memory modules
- Restarted PC
Upon restart, I burned the Sea Tools program and booted from the CD
I let the program perform the BASIC test then the Long test.
At 91%, the PC froze and I heard a high pitched whine coming from the PC.
I am now rerunning it to see what happens.
I did the basic and the long.
I will run another scan in the morning.
