Unfortunately the motherboard I have can only handle 2gb per stick, 8gb total.

lol my thoughts exactly, but on a side note, ordered 4 gb (2gb per stick) of crucial ddr2 ram, from their site today, should see it in 5-6 days.
Till the RAM arrives, Do these stress tests and inform results:
Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95
CPU - Stress Test Using IntelBurnTest
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark
Monitor your temps with Speccy during these tests
Thanks for the links, I know forsure its not my vid card, as it is new and it did this before the new card.
I will run all the others though, I have heard of prime95 and have used that on an older computer when I overclocked it, that program still scares me LOL
I have a question for you, I got the new ram today, Put it in, and the computer would not boot up. I am not new to this as I built my computer from the motherboard up. Is there something I am missing here? I dont get it. This ram is compatible with my motherboard, I am 100% sure of that.
The computer turns on, all the fans kick on, video card too, but all I get is a black screen, no post bios beep either. Put my old ram back in, and it boots up fine.
I tried each of the 2 sticks I got separate, and still nothing. Did I get 2 sticks of bad ram?
Put in the old RAM and boot into BIOS and set to Defaults, usually pressing F5 will do that, confirm and boot up and power off. Now try using one stick of the new RAM, if you can get into BIOS set your RAM as listed on its label, Timings, frequency, and voltage.
I tried all that, I even reset cmos by taking the cmos battery out. I think my mobo does not like crucial ram. I checked the QVL (quality vendor list) and crucial is not listed, I am going to return this ram, and get some g-skill as it is on the list, I tried both sticks on their own, and the comp still would not boot, and I noticed when I was trying the ram, when I would try to boot, in the 30 seconds I would wait, the ram got very warm. almost got. It was odd.
Thanks for the help
You could be right but RAM is usually RAM as long as specs are in line for the board and CPU.
It certainly not get hot though. With all the abuse I put my rig through, RAM is barely warm to the touch. Even the hard core gamers here report RAM doesn't get hot.
If the GSkill RAM is on a QVL they guarantee it to work.
