Windows 7 32bit ultimate Freezes after login screen

i think its a hitachi and no option in bios also i signed in and now i cant see any icons on the computer screen is black with cursor and ctrl alt del dont make a response.

You gotta burn one or two more CDs. Seagate's Seatools works with many brands:

Particularly interested in the drive's SMART status (PASS/WARN/FAIL). Both should report SMART status by the time they load up and recognize your drive. Give us a screenshot of the report (same as you did for memtest).

If you decide to run any of the tests they provide, I'd only do the quick or short test until you can report back, or at least until you can safeguard your data. The tests should be nondestructive (data safe), even the long extended tests (but be careful not to run the options that overwrite data). The extended testing causes the drive to do quite a bit of work and if it's not healthy it may be better to grab your data first as the drive may only have limited read/write time left.

now that its a HDD problem i need to know how to get all of the data on another HDD like cloning it or is there anyway at all i can fix this

Can you run that WD tool so we can get a better idea of that drive's health? When you run it it'll also report SMART status, but you can click on that status and it'll open a window that'll show all the SMART attributes and their current values. Post screenshots of that if you can.

In the case of a failing hard drive, where it's not known how much longer it'll last, there's a decision to be made: try and grab data first or try to make a clone first. Depends on how critical that data is and how much access time you think you've got left for that drive. You also have to wonder if you'll even be able to get a working image/clone from it.

Hmm. Hopefully you only got that because the app isn't capable of detecting your drive. Go ahead and download the following:

It's the same link I posted prior to this post, containing the tools to copy out your data. Burn it to DVD (I'm not sure if it'll fit on a CD) and boot it. There's a mini-version of Win XP on there; run that. At this point you can use it to copy out your data to some other media. But I'm interested in a program called CrystalDisk. It should be found in the Hiren's menu under a subcategory labeled storage, hardware, or something like that. That program should be able to detect your drive and report it's SMART status. Post a screenshot of that if you can.

ok slight problem this is what i get



also i restarted the pc over 30 times and i let it sit and load finally loaded but very very slow when loading like 30 + min for windows to have no lag

If your machine still boots (and you know the memory is good) and is usable (even if you've got to wait some time after boot before you can really use it) then you can try and copy your data out of that suspect drive.

You can also download CrystalDiskInfo and run it from your installed OS. Or you can try and run it from the folder on the Hiren's DVD that contains CrystalDisk -- after unzipping it. The portable version is here: Portable Edition (zip) (avoids the ad software that's normally included with the installable version).
