Lots of problems after windows update/using verifier

Hey guys. Apologies if this is in the wrong forum as I really don't know where else to put this. I would really appreciate it if you could take the time to read this. My laptop needs help!

The problem all started with random BSOD, which hasn't come back anymore so I'm posting this thread here. I ran verifier to see if any of my drivers were causing the BSOD.

I rebooted, then Windows started automatically installing updates (with verifier stressing my drivers). A lot of weird stuff happened. I was watching youtube videos, and my intel hd graphics crashed a few times. It would reload the screen, but a couple times it didn't so I had to restart. Also experienced that glitch when moving a window really fast it leaves a trail of windows. So I turned verifier off and shut down, seeing that my system had to be restarted to install updates. It took forever (for only 3 updates) but it finally did.

When I restarted, I got a popup one of my software doesn't work without a proper display driver installed, although both my drivers for my intel hd graphics and my discrete mobile gpu were working not too long ago! So I go to device manager, and see it says that my intel hd graphics "are not digitally signed." It says my GTX 660m is working, but when I double click Nvidia control panel it says it doesn't detect a gpu. So I tried to reinstall my intel drivers, and it fails after trying to install the audio.

So then I go to my update window, and it says that the updates failed to install. I try to install them, and again it only says it's installing 3 updates (like it said when I pressed shut down). After the 3rd one it fails to install and gives me these errors:

So to sum up, after running verifier to test my drivers and then trying to update:
-My graphics drivers aren't working for some reason, and reinstalling failed
-My updates fail to install every time
-My system feels glitchy and unresponsive at times

What is going on with my laptop tonight? This never happened until just now!

Thanks guys, appreciate it!

Booted into safe mode, uninstalled old Intel and Nvidia drivers and successfully installed new ones. Restarted, and got the same errors I had earlier (Intel drivers not being digitally singed and Nvidia control panel saying no Nvidia gpu attached). Also downloaded that microsoft software that troubleshoots windows update. It said it fixed the problem for me, but now it fails whenever I try to check for updates giving me error code 80244004.

This leads me to believe that there is something conflicting with these drivers and/or windows update. What should I do? Thanks.

Please first do some system checks.

Please run a full CHKDSK and SFC scan....
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.

At the Command prompt, type
CHKDSK C: /R
and hit the Enter key.

You will be told that the drive is locked,
and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, and then reboot.
The CHKDSK will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient!
After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot) -

then run the SFC.

SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.
At the Command prompt, type
SFC /SCANNOW
and hit the Enter key

Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.
Copy the CBS.log file created to your desktop (you can't manipulate it directly) and then compress the copy and attach it to your reply it so that we can take a look.

Also -

Please run the CheckSUR tool from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
(you'll need to look in the details for Method 2)

Then zip the CheckSUR.log and attach that to your reply as well

The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.

Hello apav and welcome to the forums

I don't have the time to reply fully at the moment, but I'll post the fix to this issue tomorrow night. Just so I don't lose this information, I'm posting it here (ignore this):

Thank you Tom982! I look forward to your reply

And my C: drive is a Crucial M4 mSATA ssd NoelDP. I heard that a lot of the M4's need a firmware update, but I'm at school and can't burn an ISO with my ODD. Also my computer doesn't have IDE mode, which is needed according to Crucial to update the firmware.

So I might just show them these logs to Crucial and RMA it (I have gotten blue screens in the past) if that's the best way.

Thanks!

For what it's worth, follow Noel's recommendation to the letter. I would not even run the OS that's on your C: drive until you've secured the data you've got stored on it.

Bad SSD for sure. If you have anything important on it, I would recommend backing it up from a different computer and not booting the drive up. Definitely RMA that guy though.

Okay, so for the time being I'll reinstall windows on my HDD and take my Crucial out to RMA it.

Gah, even my Windows backup is failing. I scaned my pc for viruses and I'm clean, and I turned on SPP and Volume Shadow Copy in services. But whenever I try to backup it tells me that it "failed to read from the shadow copy on one of the volumes being backed up."

I am going to copy and paste most of my data to my external HDD, but how are programs going to work if I copy and paste them onto my install installation. It won't work right?
