BSOD After Unig External HDD, error 0x000000c5

    Hi there,

So very recently, after using my external HDD my computer gets a BSOD within 10 - 20 minutes after I turn it off. It's happened about 3 times this past week, so I would like some expert opinions to help me fix this issue before it becomes more serious.

    My Computers Specs:

    HP Probook 4530s
    OS: Windows 7 Professional 32-Bit
Processor: Intel Core i3-2310M CPU @ 2.10 GHZ
    RAM: 6GB

I've attached the minidump files, I ran Bluescreen view to try and get a better understanding of what might be the issue, and it says that the driver at fault is "halmacpi.dll"

I had a BSOD issue before where my computer wouldn't start, but it turned out I was running Avast which was causing the error so I removed it and the error resolved.

Currently I am running Comodo Fire Wall and Avira Anti Virus for my PC protection. Please let me know if one of these might be causing the issue.

Another random annoyance I have is after booting my system i get an error message stating :

    "HPConnectionManager.exe - Fatal Error

A fatal error occured, check the HP Connection Manager in Event Viewer for more details.

Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

I'm not really sure what this indicates, if anyone could clear that up that would be very helpful.

Lastly, and not really that important, but I've been having trouble getting my PDF Complete to actually print...if anyone could help with that you'd be my hero.

Any and all help is much appreciated, thanks!

Does the blue screen occur when using the external hard drive? Or after it's unplugged?

It happens after the hard drive is off and unplugged.

    Code:
    DRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL (c5)

    BugCheck C5, {650032, 2, 0, 8316f795}

    Probably caused by : Pool_Corruption ( nt!ExDeferredFreePool+135 )
    STOP 0x000000C5: DRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL

Could you please upload a .NFO file:

    Start > Type: msinfo32 > File, Save

    RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Run Memtest86+ for least 7-8 passes, and preferrly overnight as it can take a while to fully complete.

Test each RAM stick individually, if an error is found then move the same RAM stick into the next DIMM slot and test again, if errors are found for the same RAM stick in every available slot then you have a faulty RAM module. On the other hand, if no errors are found in the next slot or the other slots for the same RAM module, then you have a faulty DIMM slot.

Test each RAM stick and every motherboard DIMM slot available.

    Here's the .NFO file.

I'll run the MemTest and report back in a few hours.

I ran the MemTest for 8 passes and only 1 error showed. I took a picture and uploaded it (I took this pic after pass 6, but after pass 8 nothing had changed).

Which RAM stick showed the error? Did you test each RAM stick individually?

Place one RAM stick in one slot, and then test for least 8 passes again, if there is an error remove the RAM stick and then place the same RAM in stick in the next available slot; repeat for all the the slots, if there is a error for every slot then you have a faulty RAM stick, if an error only occurs in one slot then you have a faulty RAM slot.

Repeat the above process for all your RAM sticks (test one RAM stick at a time).

    Post back your results.

Ok, so here's where things get interesting...

I tested each RAM stick individually (in their usual slot first) for 8 passes and no errors showed up. I only have 2 RAM sticks and 2 RAM slots. Could it be a power management issue while running both RAM sticks at the same time?

You could try leaving one RAM stick in and see if you get a BSOD.

    Upload your System Specifications:

    Test for corrupted drivers:

Ok, I'll run the driver test and get back to you. Thanks!
