I don't have a Win7 CD of any kind.
All the above methods required a cd.
Edit: when I goto repair computer in the F8 menu, it loads the HP recovery manager

Is this a laptop or a desktop? How old is it? Is it under warranty and don't you have a computer you can work from?

It is a laptop. It it almost 3 years old and the warranty was up this past summer. I do have a netbook I am working from but cannot burn any CDs from it.

Do a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 on the laptop and see if the issues come back. You'll need a USB stick.

After inserting the USB stick follow Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console to back up anything you have on the users folder / hard drive to another partition or external device.
