BSOD often when booting but also during use

Tried clean install (win7 x64) but still happening. Assume it's hardware related but really don't know. Thanks SO much for any help you can give.

Thanks! I should add that I was getting BSODs BEFORE I installed the hard drive. When I did the clean install, I added the SSD. But I will try as suggested.

I checked the connections and the firmware but didn't do the checkdisk and I still got BSOD. I sent a new dumpfile after the chkdsk (though haven't had a bsod in the brief time since the chkdsk).

That's strange. I just had another bsod, so here's another...this one definately contains the event that just happened. I don't know why there are no dmp files between 11-20 and 11-22.

Get rid of nvstor.

  1. Right click on "my computer" icon and click "manage" on the context menu.
  2. It will open the "computer management" window.
  3. Select "Device Manager" in the left pane, It will list all the existing devices up.
  4. Expand "Disc Drives" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
  5. Select one item under it, right click, uninstall.
  6. Continue the process for all items under "Disc Drives"
  7. Now restart the computer. At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate system driver, msahci.sys.
A lot of USBPORT.sys errors are there.
For the port, first, uninstall and reinstall the USB ports drivers.

  1. Right click on Computer icon > manage. It will open the computer management window.
  2. Click on "Device Manager" in the left pane, it will list all installed devices up.
  3. Expand "USB Serial Bus Controllers" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
  4. Click on one item to select, then right click and uninstall.
  5. Do the same for all.
  6. Restart the computer.
  7. At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate drivers.
And, Disable USB Selective Suspense too.
USB Selective Suspend - Turn On or Off

For the devices, first, detach all the USB devices other than the keyboard and mouse.
Then, Update the drivers for them all, including the keyboard and mouse, if any third party drivers are installed for them.

Stress test the CPU.
Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95

Let us know the results.

Well, i think the stress test was passed after several hours. I thank you! Assuming this has been causing past BSODs, how is it possible that this usb issue made it through a clean install?

USB issue may not be overcome via a clean install, as the driver CD you are using during installation is almost 3 years old. You get the new version of nForce, install it after a clean install, and hopefully it will do the nvstor.sys and USB both the issues.

I told you to not use nvstor, but it is still there and crashing. :(

Edit: two more steps base on the latest dumps:

1. Disc Check:

  1. Update your SSD's Firmware (Skip it, if it is not a SSD)
  2. Re-seat the sata and power.
  3. Run chkdsk /f/r, following the option two of the tutorial Disk Check
  4. Seatool for dos: SeaTools | Seagate download
    Burn it in a blank cd. boot from the CD, click on "Accept", wait for it to finish detecting the drives, then in the upper left corner select "Basic Tests", then select "Long Test" and let it run.
2. Scan the system for possible virus infection. (it's a precautionary step)
