    Hi Kaktussoft,

At the moment I am backing up my docs before I run the memory check and then embark on fixing this issue (potential with a windows reinstall)

I managed to find my laptop manual. As it turns out, I have a recovery partition on my drive - this contains windows and other utilities installed at factory. Would it be 'safe' to assume the recovery partition is fine to use as a method for repairing/re-installing W7?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Im having trouble finding the BIOS setting to boot from USB so I can run the memory test prog. I accessed the BIOS settings and boot options but there was no selection available for USB. Think im doing something wrong?!

You can run memory diagnostics from cd/dvd! Memtest86.com - Memory Diagnostic

Yes! But only as long as nobody changed the recovery partition.

Yes - I seen that. If I run from dvd will I not have the same problem with boot order?

Can't you change the boot order in BIOS so it tries to boot from CD/DVD first?
