What anti-virus software are you running? I just had the same problem with Windows Explorer crashing when I tried to do anything with flash drives. It ended up being Bitdefender 2013. I removed it and no more crashes.

That wouldn't explain my wife's profile being ok and not crashing

    Hi all,

Well I thought I'd check my wife's profile (should have done this earlier). I don't seem to be able to replicate the same problem. I have accessed windows explorer and went in and out of files and folders, this would crash it on my profile, but on hers it seems okay.

    So, what does this mean?
So it's an user related problem? Most likely related to "contents" in My Documents. We told you before to test that! Clean install isn't necessary

The only problem is with "My documents"? And only of your account as for as you know?

    1. In windows explorer goto c:\users\<your name>
    2. Now you see "My Documents". Right click on it and click "Copy"
    3. Right click on Desktop and click "Paste".
Now you have a copy on your desktop. Same problem there?

SFC found no problems, just as expected.

I copied over My Docs to desktop and the same thing happened......

So, where do we go from here?

    Thanks

If you open My Docs... problem is there immediately?
Now cut (so not copy) My documents from desktop and paste in C:\
Same problem? If so... logon under another account and try to open C:\My documents. Problems?

The problem isnt there immediately i.e. on the first action, it may take a couple of 'actions' before the problem appears. There doesnt seem to be a particular folder or file type which causes it.

I cut the folder into c:\ and the problem happened there too(under my profile).

I then accessed the file via my wifes profile but couldn't replicate the crash.
