Random BSODs about once a day or so with ntoskrnl.exe and tcpip.sys.

I've had my computer for about 3-4 years and just recently I have been getting random BSODs sometimes when playing games, but also on other times just when browsing the web or opening/closing programs. I've already replaced my HD and did a Clean install of Windows 7. I also replaced video card and did memtest86 as well, but I'm still getting BSODs. Sometimes I will get BSOD more than once a day, other times not for a couple of days, it's really intermittant.

I found a program called WhoCrashed which analyse crash dump settings and it was somewhat helpful with the errors and google searching and I tried some of the suggestions during the search I found but it didn't really seem to help besides what I already tried.

The dmp files that were found with the SF_Diagnostic_Tool were only from about the past month or so, since I reinstalled Win 7.

Lately I have been getting ntoskrnl.exe with either SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION or IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL but before I was getting PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. I also got a BSOD on tcpip.sys.

Any help would be appreciated, this is driving me nuts.
    Thanks.

    Welcome to SevenForums.

You need to reinstall the drivers for MotioninJoy simulate Xbox 360 controller (virtual Xinput device). Click on the Start ► Control Panel ► Programs ► Uninstall a program ► Uninstall everything related to that program. Delete remnants of its drivers/older drivers using Driver Fusion/Sweeper and install the latest from here.

Avast! antivirus can contribute in BSOD-s. PLease uninstall and use Microsoft security essentials (TO TEST).

Recommended antivirus program for Windows 7 based on stability compared to others:-

Do not start the free trial of Malware Bytes; remember to deselect that option when prompted.

Run a full scan with both (separately) once downloaded, installed and updated.

Run the System File Checker that scans the of all protected Windows 7 system files and replaces incorrect corrupted, changed/modified, or damaged versions with the correct versions if possible:

    • Click on the
    • Type CMD on Search
    • Left click and Run as Administrator
    • Type SFC /scannow

    Full tutorial here:

Run Disk Check on your hard disk for file system errors and bad sectors on it:

Free up the start-up, nothing except the antivirus is usually needed.

    *Update your network card drivers.
Let us know if there are any improvements or not.

Then take memtest. Run for 8 passes and test each stick in a know good slot for an additional 6 passes.

The goal is to test all the RAM sticks and all the motherboard slots.

Check your motherboard manual to ensure the RAM sticks are in the recommended motherboard slots. Some motherboards have very specific slots required for the number of RAM sticks installed.

If you get errors, stop the test and continue with the next step.

    1. Remove all but one stick of RAM from your computer (this will be RAM stick #1), and run Memtest86 again, for 7 passes.
Be sure to note the RAM stick, use a piece of tape with a number, and note the motherboard slot.
If this stick passes the test then go to step #3.

    2. If RAM stick #1 has errors, repeat the test with RAM stick #2 in the same motherboard slot.
If RAM stick #2 passes, this indicates that RAM stick #1 may be bad. If you want to be absolutely sure, re-test RAM stick #1 in another known good slot.
If RAM stick #2 has errors, this indicates another possible bad RAM stick, a possible motherboard slot failure or inadequate settings.
    3. Test the next stick of RAM (stick #2) in the next motherboard slot.
If this RAM stick has errors repeat step #2 using a known good stick if possible, or another stick.
If this RAM stick has no errors and both sticks failed in slot#1, test RAM stick #1 in this slot.
    4. If you find a stick that passes the test, test it in all the other motherboard slots.

If Part 2 testing shows errors, and all tests in Part 3 show errors, you will need to test the RAM sticks in another computer and/or test other RAM in your computer to identify the problem.

In this way, you can identify whether it is a bad stick of RAM, a bad motherboard, or incompatibility between the sticks.
Errors are sometimes found after 8 passes.
Do this test overnight, before going to bed.

OK so I am starting to work on this tonight, and did uninstall MotionJoy, but your notes mentions to delete remnants of its drivers/older drivers using Driver Fusion/Sweeper. I installed that program but on the "Driver Inspection" part of the program I did not see anything listed for MotionJoy, so I am guessing that it is completely uninstalled since it is no longer in Programs and Features?

OK I installed and scanned with MSE and Malwarebtes, malwarebytes found traces of a bad chrome plugin that some other programs installed so I deleted it (though that was installed after I started getting the BSODs)

I ran SFC /scannow and Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Diskcheck on drives C and D were no problems found.

The Windows Startup under msconfig did have a few things like Steam, Dropbox, Google Drive, Google Update listed so I disabled those for now as listed on the other thread.

I tried memtest86 a while ago, but I had an older version on a CD (not sure if it matters) and also I didn't test each stick individually, only at the same time. I'll download the newer version on USB stick and see if it works better.

OK well I ran the memtest with the latest version (v4.20) overnight and let it run as well when I was work, so it ran about 18 hours. I came home and checked it ran 12 passes and what was on the screen had errors on them.

The older version of memtest I had on CD (I think it was version 2.x) Did not give any errors on the memory when I tested it before.

Anyways I'll try the suggestion about testing 1 stick at a time in each slot and try to determine what the culprit is, memory, or MB. I'll update again after I test all that.

Any other suggestions what else I can test or is it more than likely the memory or the MB?
