BSOD on shutdown, DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE, out of ideas!

Hi All,

I have been researching/trying to fix this issue for 2 days but I am now out of ideas.

I keep getting a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE crash on shutdown. I have installed the debugging tools and tried to identify the source of the BSOD and it seems to be around the USB drivers but I may be wrong (I am new to this level of error fixing).

The debugging tools indicate that the culprit may be the asmthub3 driver (which I think is an asmedia USB driver?) and that the timestamp is 2011 even though I have updated it to the latest 29/11/2012 version???

I have updated all the drivers I can think of consisting of chipset, USB, BIOS, LAN, my 3 attached USB devices drivers (Corsair 1500 headset, K90 keyboard and M90 mouse), bluetooth etc etc but I am now out of ideas.

Any help on this would be greatly received. I have attached my files for analysis as requested.

Thanks in advance,

James

Welcome aboard.

It is caused by ASMedia USB 3.0 Hub driver.

Hi Arc,

Thanks for the reply. I ended up on this website earlier today but I don't know which controller I need and also, there seem to be no links to download any drivers?

Am I not seeing the obvious links?

Email sent - lets see what they say.

I can't believe that I am the only person getting this issue? The motherboard I have is very popular and if this were a bigger issue, I would expect more information to be found onine about the issue?

In the mean time, I have been on the ASUS website and downloaded and installed the previous version of the driver and made sure that no usb controllers in the device manager are using the newer faulty one. It's still getting the BSOD. Is the asmthub3.sys driver definitely at fault here?

Is there a way I can cleanly remove all traces of this driver and start a fresh? If so - how?

Driver fusion was a watse of time.

I did find on another forum a link to this site that has the latest ASMedia ASM 1041/1042 1.14.8 drivers dated 04/08/2012.

Installed them and now no more BSOD very happy indeed.

Problem over.
