Windows 7: Windows Installer could not be accessed

Windows Installer could not be accessed

Recently after windows update, updated my computer I started to get Windows Installer could not be accessed error whenever I try to install anything.

I tried to system restore but for some reason all my restore points were gone.
No viruses found by Sophos Protection



Current system:
Windows 7 SP1 x64

Start off by running system file checker.

click start
Type cmd. (Right click on cmd.exe that pops up)
Click run as administrator
Once command prompt opens type
Sfc /scannow

I'm not at my computer to look at the log. I will when I get a chance. Until then check out this tutorial on sfc.

follow option 3.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Then look at this guide. I'm sorry its taken so long to get back to you i have been pretty busy.

Extract Files from Windows 7 Installation DVD

If you're still having problems completing this post the sfcdetails.txt

First you need to reboot your PC to repair some of the files.

In %windir%\system32 these files need to be replaced from the extract files of windows 7 installation DVD link above.

"poqexec.exe"

After you replace the file. reboot and run it one more time.

Hey it's me again. I thought this topic was dead

The problem is, I have a laptop with no CD Drive, I do have Factory reset on this laptop, is there a way to extract from there?

If you can get access to a Windows Home premium Iso file then you would be able to do it, or just find someone with a Windows Home Premium PC.
