Yes RMA means send it back

Personally i would give up on the drive with errors found on it and get it replaced
Its up to you otherwise you run the risk of it failing at a later date and having to go through it all anyway

The only thing i keep thinking about though is that i didnt think a HDD issue would affect memtest running as your booting from it, id hate to suggest you get new drive only to fit it and still have problems
Im gonna ask some others their opinion see what we can find out

Hum Pauly Mate the memtest should have nothing to do with the drive as it runs off a boot disk.

May I suggest Paul you get a second drive just in case - they are cheapish now and it will always keep for a backup mate. and try installing the OS onto it via the stick ISO method.

That is you can download the OS from My Digital Life and use the activation code you have as it is tied to the motherboard not the HDD.

Windows 7 ISO x86 and x64 Official Direct Download Links (Ultimate, Professional and Home Premium) « My Digital Life < put this on a stick and boot from it with the new drive (set the BIOS first to boot from USB)

But run the memtest first if you can otherwise all it should cost you is a new HDD

Personally if it were mine I would get a SSD and have a regualr HDD spinner for datas backup - nice if you want to go fast.

No probs mate let us know how you go with the new drive try out the setup for SSD's I have found it perfect for SSD's and spinners.

SSD Alignment < just do the DISKPART to EXIT bit you'll need a running machine to do this though.

Before that you might just as well downloading the 7 ISO from My Digital Life and just use the activation code you have on install as that is tied to the motherboard.

Windows 7 ISO x86 and x64 Official Direct Download Links (Ultimate, Professional and Home Premium) « My Digital Life < 4GB stick is ok I prefer to use an 8GB one for clearance LOL!!
