Uninstall RST in Control panel > Programs and features. It may work.

It is not listed in Control panel > Programs and features.

Hopefully the driver updates have fixed the problem, I'll report back any further issues.

Thanks

Used my PC for the first time today since my last post and had a BSOD on startup. Not sure exactly what happened because I left the PC unattended but when I returned it was stuck on the Windows logo screen (the screen before the windows login screen) so I had to do a hard reboot. It's been running for about an hour since reboot and no BSODs so far.

SF Diagnostic Tool results attached - any idea what the problem was this time?

Thanks

Your crash dumps are not showing any finite probable cause. In such a situation, it is better to enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

information   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

warning   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

Tip   Tip

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Thanks I followed the instructions to enable Driver Verifier but when I get to step 5 all the drivers in the list are provided by Microsoft Corporation so there is nothing to select. Please advise.

Incidentally the next time I went to reboot after my last post I got repeated BSODs on start-up, couldn't get into windows, tried start-up repair but it couldn't fix the problem, my only option was to use system restore and I'm now back into windows although system froze on me a couple of hours ago but seems fine since reboot. This is the procedure I had to go through repeatedly every time I booted up when this problem first started and I suspect it's related to a windows update as it only seems to occur when an update is applied. So after twice reinstalling the OS (one of those was an upgrade to Win7 pro), checking for hardware faults, updating bios, and updating drivers, I'm kinda back to square one now. Recent BSOD dump files seem to be missing as well, presumably because of the system restore. Really at the end of my tether with this PC now. grrrr.

If you see only microsoft provided drivers in the list, go back. Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable --- open the link, keep it open, and follow the information step by step. There should be a lot of other drivers.

Let us know, is it still the situation that everytime you try to start the computer, you need to do a system restore?

The next time I enabled Driver Verifier I did see drivers other than those provided by Microsoft and I ran Driver Verifier for a few hours with no issues. I was going to run it overnight for 24+ hours but I've now fitted a new higher wattage PSU (550w) and since then I have not had a single lock-up or BSOD (touch wood!).

So it looks like it may have been a faulty or inadequate PSU but I'm still convinced the issue was related to a Windows Update and/or Intel Rapid Storage or at least that was the trigger that started the PSU problems. What's interesting is that I used to get a slight delay (two or three seconds) before I could access my secondary internal hard drive the first time I accessed it after boot-up. Since I fitted the new PSU I don't get the delay.

Anyway, so far so good, will report back if BSODs or lock-ups return. :-)
